THE MIRROR ROOM

Loud screams fill the room as the woman is dragged through the floor by an invisible force to a room filled with darkness, the woman grabbed onto the entryway of the room, her scream filling the room,’ NO! NO! HELP ME! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME! Just as she was about to be drawn into the darkness, she shouted,’ JONAS! WARN THE OTHERS!’ With that the woman is drawn into the Darkness the door slamming in front of her and silence filling the room.

3 DAYS EARLIER,

‘This is something I have to do for my safety; this Trauma won’t go away easily’ Lilith twirled her sister’s ring in her hand while Tears surrounded her eyes, she thought to herself,’ If only I had… sis, maybe you would still be alive. Forgive me, if you can.’ Lilith found herself standing in front of Thornbook Psychiatric Asylum where she had decided to start Therapy and isolate herself from the world. Lilith enters the Asylum and walks towards reception of the Asylum, she talks with the Nurse and enters her personal ward, as she enters, she finds a man standing right in front of her with a crazy look on his face. Lilith though freaked out speaks in a calmed tone,’ Who are you, Mister? I am pretty sure I requested a private ward.’ The man speaks in a hushed voice,’ Leave! Leave this place at once. The Mirror Room will claim you too.’ The man runs out of the room while Lilith could only think about what the hell happened with her when it has been barely 10 minutes since she step foot in this place. The nurse came into the room and said,’ Don’t listen to that man, he is a Psycho who still hasn’t recovered since the Incident a year ago’ Lilith now intrigued asked,’ What Incident?’ The nurse replied,’ About a year ago, the previous patient who resided in this ward suddenly disappeared into thin air and Jonas, the man you just saw was the only witness to this, he claimed that the girl was dragged away by an Invisible force into a room that suddenly appeared within this room. After that day, he was labelled a Nut-Case, Psycho and even a Murderer as many believed he killed that man.’ Lilith felt a pit form in her stomach as she decided to talk to Jonas to find out about this ‘Mirror Room’. Lilith exits her room and starts to wander the corridors of Psychiatric Asylum in hopes of finding Jonas’s room but she could find nothing, she looked up at the time and realized it was time for her meeting with her therapist. She made her way towards the office of Dr Emily Harper, one of the top Therapist in the country, yet she worked at this Asylum, away from society.’ She never explained the reason for shutting down her practise and moving to the middle of nowhere, Well! Who am I to judge her considering I did the same.’ Lilith thought to herself. She knocked on the door and heard a voice from inside say,’ Come in!’ Lilith enters the room and finds a woman who looks like she is in her thirties, looking straight at Lilith with a calming smile on her face,’ Sit! You must be Lilith, the new patient in Isolation. I am sorry, but I have to ask, while checking your records I found no records of any signs of violent or aggressive behavior which would make you consider putting yourself in Isolation.’ Lilith replies,’ Yes, I am not a violent or aggressive person, I tend to react calmly and behave rationally. I had long ago decided to isolate myself after My sister’s “Suicide”, but found the courage to do so recently.’ Ms Harper muttered something to herself,’ Alright, can you tell me what happened from the beginning?’ Lilith hesitates to reply but agrees and starts,’ Let me start from the beginning, it was 10 years ago, I still remember that day, the day that changed our family forever, it was 10th of May, Mom and Dad had left for a work trip 2 days prior and set to return that day. I had made plans to go out with my friends, my sister begged me to stay with her, she told me she was seeing strange things, she felt as if our home had transformed into a malevolent entity and she didn’t feel safe, I ignored her and left her all alone. 3 hours later, I checked my phone and saw over 30 missed calls from mom and dad along with text messages to come home, Worried I returned home only to find my Mom crying in the kitchen while my dad was trying to console her, I went to look for my sister, just so I could find out what was happening and I saw it, my sister was hanging off the fan in her room, with a rope tied to her neck. I freaked out and started shouting and crying, she told me what she was experiencing and I left her which forced her to take this step, but it seemed I was wrong. We moved houses as everything in our previous house reminded mother of my sister, but a few days after we moved in, I had just returned from school in the evening and had good news to share, I had been accepted into my dream university with full scholarship. I went towards the kitchen, but I couldn’t find mother and I felt as if I had stepped on some liquid and I looked down to find blood on the floor, I followed the trail and I couldn’t believe the sight in front of me, my mother lied on the kitchen floor, her hand covered in blood holding a knife and blood gushing out of her neck as if it was a fresh cut, but I knew my mother had long died, Dad returned home and saw the horrific scene, he didn’t even say anything and went straight towards the camera room, after the previous incident, we had installed cameras all around the new house, since we suspected murder, we checked the footage, 2 hours before I returned my mother was walking towards the gate when she fell or it felt like she was pushed and then she was dragged away but the strange part was we couldn’t see anyone, it was as if some invisible force was pulling my mother, we switched to the kitchen camera, my mother was dragged in and then forced to stand up, the entity made her grab the knife and then it slit her throat. Our blood ran cold as we saw the footage, whatever it was, for a brief moment it made itself visible, turned towards the camera and waved before disappearing. The decision was made, we left the country and moved and met many priests and did many rituals to rid ourselves of the spirit, it worked but only for 10 years, 2 months earlier, I had a late shift at my office and left at 11 p.m. I had an eerie feeling when I was going back home, but I ignored it since I always felt it. I reached home and found the front door open, entering it, a foul stench hit me, I walked further and I saw… I saw my father laying there all bloody in the kitchen and a message written on the wall “YOU ARE NEXT! THIS WILL BE FUN!” I could sense the taunting that she left in the message.’ Lilith finishes and looks at Dr harper who seems to be in shock, Lilith waves her hand in front of harper but she got no reply, so with no other option left she pinched Harper who woke up but instead of shouting said,’ Wow! Your life is nothing short of devastating, losing not only your sister but also your mother at a young age is enough to scar a person emotionally in such a manner that would be 100 times worse than how you behave, you still found the courage to live and move on, that in itself is commendable.’ Lilith stops Harper and tells her,’ You don’t need to compliment me, I don’t deserve it’ she starts tearing up but continues,’ if only I had stayed with her that day, my sister… she might have lived, my family could have been whole, none would have died, my selfish decision cost me my family, my everything, not anymore I won’t let that spirit hurt anyone else, I will destroy her.’ Lilith got up and left the room, she walked down the corridor and entered her room. As soon as she entered, she saw a mirror on the wall, but she couldn’t see her reflection, she saw her sister waving at her through the mirror, overcome with emotion she walked towards the mirror, she touched her sister’s hand on the mirror when the room suddenly turned dark, Lilith couldn’t see anything, she knew the spirit had found her and now it will kill her. Lilith smirked and announced,’ So! You really came! Well, I am not going down without a fight, bitch!’ It was easier said than done, an enemy that you can’t see is the strongest one. The light suddenly returned to the room and Lilith looked around feeling confused, Suddenly, all the air was knocked out of Lilith’s body as she looked down to see her stomach being punched, Lilith fell to her knees and groaned in pain, the spirit grabbed her leg and started pulling her towards the dark room where the mirror once stood. Lilith started to scream for help but just as it seemed to fall on deaf ears, Jonas burst into the room, but it was too late, Lilith let go of the doorway and just before disappearing shouted,’ JONAS! WARN THE OTHERS!’ Lilith was pulled into darkness and the door slammed shut as silence filled the room and Jonas watched the door disappear with a horrifying look on his face.
