The Day After the Engagement
Morning After Engagement | Singhania Palace
The sun filters into the grand Singhania dining hall, glinting off the palace’s gold-rimmed breakfast ware and highlighting the... aftermath.
Arjun aka Monty enters first, wearing sunglasses indoors and a hoodie that says “I ♥ Champagne” (ironically).
Monty (grumbling): “I swear if anyone even mentions the word ‘shots’ again, I’m defecting to the Khanna family.”
Trisha is already at the head of the table in her classic black satin shirt, sleep-mussed hair, one leg folded on the chair, sipping coffee like the engagement didn’t end in fireworks and public kissing. Her diamond-studded platinum band glints subtly on her left hand—understated and masculine, exactly like her.
Trisha (with zero remorse): “Good morning to everyone except whoever let you order a fourth bottle.”
Dadi (Swadamini) enters dramatically with her silk dupatta flying behind her and a mug of lemongrass chai in hand.
Dadi: “If I see one more half-naked cousin dancing to ‘Sadi Galli’, I’m moving to an ashram.”
Trisha (snorting): “Don’t act innocent, Dadi. You were clapping and shouting encore.”
Cue: Raghav & Nandini (Chacha-Chachi) arrive with royal poise... and exhaustion.
Nandini: “Engagement toh hogaya, now can we please detox this family for 48 hours?”
Raghav: “By detox she means no party, no paparazzi, and no tequila aunties, Trisha.”
Trisha (mock-offended): “A tequila auntie who just got engaged and made history, by the way.”
Ranveer (Dad) finally walks in with The Times of India under his arm and a knowing smirk.
Ranveer: “I was going to ask how it feels being a fiancée, but from your face, I assume you’re more hungover than engaged.”
Trisha: “I’m fine. Emotionally overwhelmed. Mildly heart-eyed. Maybe also craving eggs benedict.”
Dadi: “Beta, you proposed with tikka in your hand. At least let us get matching ring boxes for the press photos next time.”
Everyone laughs. The vibe is pure chaotic love and domestic drama, the kind that only modern royals can serve.
Trisha (softly, playing with her ring): “I still can’t believe she said yes…”
Monty (grinning): “We all knew she would. You’re annoying, but loveable.”
They eat. They tease. They exist loudly and lovingly.
And somewhere in the corner, a little anxiety sits quietly, because love this big always has shadows.
Same Morning | Khanna Mahal
Khanna Mahal is a contrast: calm, sunlit, elegant.
Reeva sits on the window bench in her baby blue silk robe, legs curled up, hair in a lazy bun. Her diamond ring—a stunning oval solitaire on a slim, elegant band—catches the light. It’s everything she is: soft, powerful, timeless.
She stares at it like it’s surreal.
Saanvi (her sister) barges in, holding two mugs of coffee.
Saanvi (sing-song): “Wake up, dulhannn! It’s the morning after, and you’re glowing like a Pinterest board.”
Reeva (smirking): “It’s the coffee. Or maybe the public proposal. Or maybe I’m just finally dating a hot CEO legally.”
Saanvi (collapsing next to her): “Still can’t believe you let her propose in front of 300 people.”
Reeva (laughing): “She gave me no choice. There was confetti, and a Dadi cheering.”
Rajeev (Dad) walks in behind them, knocking once.
Rajeev: “I wanted to say... I’m proud of you. Both of you. And I’m glad you’re taking your time.”
Reeva (softly): “Thanks, Papa.”
Rajeev: “We’re not in a rush. No wedding pressure. Just love. Real, healthy love.”
Reeva: “That’s all I want.”
Swarna (Mom) enters with a small jewelry box.
Swarna: “I thought we could keep these rings in something more royal until your future wardrobe photoshoot.”
She opens the box: a soft velvet base with golden initials carved inside: T & R
Reeva (emotional): “You really went all in, huh?”
Swarna: “You love loud. I just added sparkle.”
They all sip coffee. Soft music plays. Reeva’s phone buzzes.
Trisha’s text: “U awake, fiancé? Want to see if you remember saying yes or if I have to propose again.”
Reeva (texting back): “Try me. But this time with chocolate and no tikka.”
They smile. The palace glows.
