2025 Years Ago

Two days and 2025 years ago

Jesus was wrongly crucified instead

Of the murderer Barabbas.

So many thorns. So long and sharp.

Deeply, they penetrated.

His flesh was TORN off his back.

All because we decided to be eternally separated.

CRASH! SLASH! On and on until the 39th lash.

One more? No. Because He would've died.

We saw His bones, His organs, His blood, His insides pouring out like a flood.

The sweat and gore dripping from every inch of his body.

Weak knees, wheezing.

Gasping for air, just barely resisting suffocation.

His eyes begging to be set free,

And His lips shaking as He spoke “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?”

That crown of thorns upon His head.

As everyone watched Him shake hands with death.

Silence. 3 days of silence.

All because His people chose defiance,

And so heaven went silent

Satan thought he had won.

And for three days, he had.

Because on the 3rd day…He would rise.

The begging for freedom in His eyes? Gone.

The shaking lips, acting in spite? Gone.

The gasping for air, as a way of showing His strife? Gone.

The weak knees and the wheezing? Gone.

The sweat and gore dripping from his body? Gone.

And this wasn't the end of the story.

Because on this day, 2025 years ago,

Our Saviour Jesus Christ defeated death and sin with one breath.

One breath of life, of love, of sacrifice.

And that's when we realized that He didn't die for a lie.

He didn't die because He had done something wrong.

He died, a perfect Man, for us.

For OUR sin. For OUR shame.

He paid the debt that we

As sinners owed to the Almighty Yahweh.

He didn't have to.

But because of one Man's selfless act,

You and I have been set free.

Free from the price of sin, which is death.

Free from the enemy's clutches.

So that we may live eternally

With Elohim in heaven.

Easter is not about spring.

Easter is not about an egg-laying bunny.

Those are all distractions from

The real reason for the season.

Easter is a testament to God's perfect love for us,

Through the incarnation of His Son, Jesus Christ.

Easter is about Jesus’ substitution

Of our punishment.

Because of His sacrifice,

The entire world has the opportunity

To rejoin the Lord God Almighty

In heaven, after our flesh dies.

So why do we act like

It’s not a big deal?

Why do we take this

Sunday for granted?

Making Easter baskets to hold candy

When we should be praising the One

Who holds you and me?!

2025 years ago, an innocent Man

Died so we could live.

We say, “He is Risen.”

But do we really meditate on those words?

No.

We post it on Instagram, TikTok,

Facebook, and X. We act all

Christian, until we do a deeper check.

Hiding plastic eggs around your house, your school, your church.

Lying to the next generation, saying

“It’s the Easter Bunny!”

When it’s really just a rabbit-like demon perched.

Watching, laughing, smiling.

Thanking the parents

For letting their little ones

“Have fun.”

When they are really giving straight into

What the Enemy wants.

So, are we doomed?

Also no.

He is Risen.

He died so we could live.

An innocent Man, 2025 years ago.

And because of His sacrifice.

Easter is about Jesus’ substitution

Of our punishment.

Through the incarnation of His Son Jesus Christ,

So that we may live eternally with Elohim in heaven.

One breath of life, of love, of sacrifice.

Our Saviour Jesus Christ defeated death and sin with one breath.

Because on this day, 2025 years ago,

This wasn’t the end of the story.

It was all part of God’s deliverance plan.

Letting the world take His Son, so that we may have a firm place to stand.

So that we may rise to be like Jesus,

Instead of fall into being like Barabbas.

So yes, we can rejoice and have peace

In knowing that everything here is temporary

Because JESUS has overcome

It ALL.
