I saw her standing there, gun in her hand, yelling at the unfortunate banker to hand over the money; and I knew that I was in love…

I ran towards her to proclaim my love for her and to ask her if she wanted to make out, but to my horror she shot me!

“Nooooooo!…” I cried out!, as blood flowed out of my wound!, “I was just running up to you to tell you that I love you!”

“Well, s***…” she said grumpily, “You really chose a terrible way to go about that… Though I guess you are kinda cute… Maybe I’ll take you home with me and see if the boss will allow our medic to patch you up so that we can date…”

Then she turned back to the banker and said, “I just shot my true love, and so don’t think that I won’t shoot you too if you don’t hand over that money NOW!!!”

The banker yelped and began handing over the money, and I passed out before I could see any more of what was happening…

When I woke up, I was in a bed next to the bank robber lady, and I noticed that my wound was all patched up.

I snuggled up to her, and then she soon woke up and said, “You’re alive!” and then we began making out for a while.

After we’d made out for like 4 hours, we got out of bed and she said, “Today’s my day off, but tomorrow I’ve gotta get back to doing more jobs for the boss.”

“Don’t you think that we could run away though!” I suggested, “I mean living a life of violent crime victimizes people, is very risky, and can get the criminal captured or killed!”

“Everyone’s a criminal.” she said boredly, “Plus, it would be more risky for me to leave than to stay and do jobs for the boss. The boss always says that nobody leaves the mafia and lives to tell the tale!…”

“And that includes me now, I guess?” I said while sweating nervously; and she did a facepalm and said, “Duh! The boss wouldn’t’ve patched you up just so that you could leave us and tell all of our secrets to the pigs!”

“Do you have to use that dehumanizing language?” I asked grumpily, “I mean, I know that some police officers are just as bad as mafia bosses, but lots of police officers are actually trying to serve and protect!”

“Fine!” she said in annoyance, “Can I call them cops? Or is that also dehumanizing?…”

“Cops is fine.” I said; and then she said, “Okay, so we’ll call them cops, but PLEASE don’t get mad at other mafia members for calling them the other word. If the boss finds out that we’re humanizing some police officers, he’s gonna probably get mad. It is what it is.”

“I guess as long as my one true love gets it I’ll try to ignore other mafia members saying terrible things…” I said unhappily; and then I said, “I’m Lake!, by the way!”

“And I’m River!” she said happily, “Now let’s make some food and coffee so that we can get have some fuel for our systems!”

“Sounds good!” I said; and then we went over to her little kitchen area and I helped her make some eggs, waffles, coffee, and fruit salad for us to eat!

The breakfast that we concocted ended up tasting really good!, and I felt so lucky and happy that I had been alone and sad yesterday but was in love and was super happy today!

We had almost finished eating breakfast when River said, “I know that you don’t really like some of what the mafia does, but you’re gonna have to go along with me and help me kill someone tomorrow. Don’t worry though! This guy is from a different crime organization, and he actually deserves it! Though you will have to help me kill people who don’t deserve it eventually though… It’s just how it goes here in the mafia!”

“I’m not killing anyone who doesn’t deserve it…” I grumbled, “And why does this dude from another crime organization supposedly deserve death?”

“Oh, he’s a murderer,” River said; and then she pulled out her phone and showed me a video of someone who had robbed a museum and killed one of the workers who’d worked there.”

“I remember hearing about that murderous heist on the news!” I said, “I think that maybe the reason why I fell in love with you was because I was hoping that my love could prevent you from killing the banker like how that guy killed the museum worker! You didn’t kill the banker, right?…”

“Nope,” River said, “that banker might be kinda traumatized, but you’re the only person I actually shot at that bank.”

“So why does the boss want that museum-murder-heist guy killed?” I asked, “I mean, I can’t imagine that it’s a vigilante mission, right?”

“Definitely not.” River said, “The mafia doesn’t do vigilantism. That’s not our thing. HOWEVER, that museum worker who he killed happened to be related to the boss, and he DOES get get revenge against people who kill members of his family.”

“That makes sense;” I said, “and, either way, it does seem like having that murderer unable to murder anybody else would be good…”

“Then our mission tomorrow should be able to happen with no problems!” River said happily; and I forced a smile too, but was also thinking about how I didn’t like how she had said that I’d eventually have to help her kill people who weren’t deserving of death eventually though… I mean, if River and I did that then wouldn’t WE be deserving of death?…

And it was at that moment that I decided that the mafia boss’s threat would have to be ignored, because I WAS going to convince River to flee away from the mafia with me BEFORE we’d be forced to do any missions that would require us to murder innocent people…
