Simply Snow White

-An Unexpected Visitor-

“I thought I loved you, but obviously you are not fit for me.” The young lady flooded with tears and ran away into the darkness.

“Would you be a dear and pass the popcorn?” I asked in a sugary sweet voice. A bowl of pearl white, crispy, crunchy popcorn was handed over to me. All eyes were back on the massive screen again. The romance film was in motion and it was about to get interesting. Suddenly, the lights started to flicker, and then turned off. A high-pitched shrieking sound came from outside the house. The dark shadows which had concealed themselves were now dancing around the room. The popcorn bowl fell to the ground with a reverberating crash making the characters in the house and I jump. The wind as if on cue, howled loudly as if, trying to find a gap into the sturdy

establishment.

A knock sounded from the front, beautifully varnished oak door. “Let me in my sweeties, I come with gifts, beautiful gifts.” The person outside the door said in a raspy voice. “Please point your face towards the digital camera.” A dwarf asked in a shaky voice from inside the house. A few seconds later a notification sounded from a phone.

I walked shakily over to the front door and opened it. “Thank you my dears,″ said the raspy voice. An old lady stepped into the room. Her skin was tanned and her wrinkles abounded. She lowered herself down onto the fluffy, pink sofa making sure that her black cape wasn’t getting wrinkled.

“So what brings you here?” I questioned her.

The old lady didn’t answer. I repeated the question. Her face didn’t change, nor did she answer. That’s when I noticed that she was holding an unnaturally shiny apple, and a weapon of some sort.

My face went pale, and my knees threatened to collapse. The other dwarves hadn’t seemed to notice. I had to warn them, the old lady was actually the evil queen, and she was trying to kill me. I looked at the bruise she had left me last time she visited.

“I need to go to the bathroom, but I am quite tired. Can anyone help me?” I asked, without much hope.

“You need to stay where you are.” The evil queen replied in her raspy voice. “I have a yummy apple for you.” I glanced at the dwarves who still hadn’t noticed this threat.

“I think I need some fresh air,” I said desperately, trying my best to hide the panic in my shaky voice.

The evil queen wrapped her hard and bony hand around mine; crushing my hand. The dwarves looked slightly uncomfortable now.

“Eat,” she yelled.

It all happened at once. The dwarves realised what was going on, the evil queen shoved the apple into my mouth, and the weapon exploded with a glistening glimmer of blue. I felt myself get knocked backwards and onto the hard wall behind me.

“Mwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!” the evil queen cackled with obvious pleasure in her eyes. With a flurry of her black cape she ran out of the room. My eyelids drooped, and my vision began to blur in a fast succession. The last thing I remember is calling for help in a weak voice. Then everything went black.

-Prisoner-

I choked as a piece of the shiny apple flew out of my dry mouth. My eyes opened wide, and my heart beat faster than ever before. As my eyes grew into focus, I studied my surroundings. The dwarves were looking at me in a relieved stare.

“Will you be alright?” one of the dwarfs inquired in a high pitched squeak.

“Come on, let’s leave her alone, she needs to rest.” another one countered in a hushed voice. They slowly shuffled out of the room as I sat up. I noticed that the weapon which the queen had held was smashed while lying sorrowfully in the corner of the room. A ray of light refracted off a piece of metal that lay on the carpet. That hadn’t been there before, I realised. It must have come from the weapon.

I shakily limped? over to the piece of metal. As I reached out to pick it up, I felt a strange vibration running through my fingers. I felt a tingle run through my spine. After-effects of the poison I guess. My vision went blurry. I felt my feet get whisked off the ground, and I levitated for a few seconds before dropping back on the ground. But when my vision returned , I found myself in a smaller room. Somehow I must have teleported.

The floor was damp, and I could hear something scuttling about. Footsteps sounded above me so I was probably in some sort of dungeon. My back hurt as I fought to get up.

I jumped as a metal door swung open. “Let me in my sweeties, I come with gifts, beautiful gifts.” said a raspy voice. I froze. ““Mwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!” laughed the evil queen diabolically. Next to her was a minuscule, innocent-looking robot. The robot nudged her, and she looked a bit downcast, but she immediately cheered up. “You have escaped my clutches too many times, but now it is time for my revenge. Mwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!” she laughed even more diabolically than before. “Get her” she instructed, as coldly as ice. The robot ‘walked’ over to terrified me.

It grabbed me by the neck; half-strangling me. The evil queen started laughing again. “Mwa-ha-ha-”

“Oh shut up would you?” I yelled. I had enough of this evil queen. I needed to escape. Maybe I could use the element of surprise. I thought about it for a moment, then decided that I had to pretend that I had fainted.

I slumped back, and the robot extended his metal arm to grab me. The arm hit me hard in the back of my head and I nearly passed out. “Is she unconscious?” She asked the robot. “Yes master.” The robot said in one of the most frightening robot voices I have ever heard. “Excellent. Now take her to the… EXTERMINATOR!” I shivered. The name sounded petrifying. I had a suspicion that this might be the end of me.

-Lots of Confetti-

“The EXTERMINATOR!” The evil queen cackled. The chains were digging into my wrists. In front of me was the dreaded machine. It had a big vat, which had a pipe connected to the bottom, which then led to 10 smaller pipes. “This machine is the confetti machine. Humans go in through this hole, and then they come out as confetti.” the evil queen said matter-of-factly. “I’m having a celebration for finally getting rid of you. I’ve got hundreds of balloons, chocolate cakes, and banners. The only thing missing is confetti. That is when you come in.”

A tear fell out of my eye. This was probably going to be the last few seconds of my life.

“Put her in the… EXTERMINATOR!” The robot extended his arms so I was hanging over the vat. This is it, I thought to myself, this is how I was going to die.

Suddenly I heard a drumming noise. It was quiet at first but it gradually became louder and louder. The door to the warehouse suddenly flung open. There stood 7 dwarves.

“Aaaiieeeeee” They shouted their war cry.

But the evil queen laughed.

“You think you can stop me?”

The dwarves nodded in unison and rushed forward. They all had sunscreen and they were spraying it everywhere.

“Aaaaaah!” shrieked the evil queen, as they sprayed the white liquid into her eyes. One dwarf tackled the robot, and sprayed sunscreen all over his circuits.

“Pumpkins…Evil…Bunny…Confetti.” The robot had crashed and thankfully I was able to jump down safely onto the ground. The evil queen was pinned down by two dwarves.

“Hurrah,” I shouted.

After that we had a big party with the balloons, cakes and banners that the queen had kept for herself. I had just noticed that at one point in the party there was some confetti. I asked one of the dwarves what had happened to the evil queen and he just winked.
