Part 1: New Character Unlocked

Rise of Trouble

My head spins as I tumble down the hill. Oh No! My pants! Aunt Jenna will be so mad that I ruined these pants. They were fifty dollars! When I got to the bottom of the hill my head hit the trunk of a tree. My vision blurs as tears spill over my face, and then the world goes black. It’s like I’m in a pitch black room staring at a screen filled with tv static.

When I come to, I am in horrible pain. It feels as though someone is jabbing a needle into my skull, and when I sit up, my head hurts so bad it feels like I am about to vomit from the pain.

“Woah! Take it easy now! Try not to move so fast.” A deep voice says gently.

My vision slowly clears up. I look around, as I look to my left, I see an elderly looking man.

“Who are you?” I ask cautiously.

“Oh, sorry forgive me for not explaining. I’m Dr.Heckz, pronounced Hex. You’re in my house.” Dr. Heckz offers me a smile.

“Where am I?” I look around the room curiously, “I know most of the people who live in town.”

“Oh dear. You aren’t in your ‘town’, Land Walkers.” He scoffs at me .

“Land Walkers?” inquire.

“Yeah you.” He rolls his eyes, “You land walkers, are people who live on land and can’t survive underwater without your technology.”

“So what? Are you like an ocean walker?” I jokingly say.

“Eh, somewhat yeah. Not the correct term though!” Dr.Heckz brings me some food.

“What’s this?” I poke at the fried food.

“Fried squid, seaweed and rice.” He side-eyes me as he walks out the room. Ocean-walkers? Land-walkers? I think about those terms as I scarf down my food. Tastes good. Wait, he's not a land-walker. If he’s not living on land, then are we underwater? No, he has to be messing with me, nobody can breathe underwater. I shove the last piece of food in my mouth. God I’m so hungry, my aunt and uncle are probably worried, maybe not. They’d probably just be glad I’m gone, everyday they remind me that they can’t look at me because I look too much like my mom. Will, Scarlet, my younger sister, Charles, and Hector, my second oldest sibling, (they’re twins), be okay. I have to get back to that wretched house. I use my hand for balance as I get out of the bed. My legs feel oddly sore,

“CRACK!” My back protests as I stretch.

I open the door, and go into the hallway. After many turns and twists, I found a kitchen area. I open the door that I think is leading out of there, instead three pairs of eyes look at me.

“What are you doing out of bed!” Dr. Hckz says sharply.

“You haven’t sent the land peasants back yet?” A woman says.

“I want to go back to my town!” I demand.

“I’ll take you back, after you change.” He frowns.

I look down, I am in my bra and underwear. Oh my gosh! My face burns out of embarrassment.

“Um… where did my clothes go?” I look at Dr. Heckz “Oh my god!”

Dr.Heckz’s face turns red, “Erm… Letta was the one who undressed you!”

“Well where do I get my clothes back?” I ask.

“They are in a chair in the corner of the room.” Letta tells me

“Okay.” I reply as I turn around.

As I make my way back to my room, a breeze hits me, making me shiver. Once I finish putting my clothes back on, I head back into the hall, it’s not as cold now. As if seeing them in the proper light, I notice that Letta, Dr. Heckz, and mystery man all have scales on their skin, colored, transparent scales. Ok maybe Dr. Heckz was telling the truth.

“So, I have decided that you’re not leaving yet. You are going to help me win a war.” Dr.Heckz says.

“What!” Letta exclaims just as I ask, “What war?”

“Damein! You can’t do this!” the mystery man yells.

“Harry. You of all people should understand this” Dr. Heckz says.

“She doesn’t even know who she really is!” Letta cries out.

“What are you guys even talking about?” I ask.

“Fine, you want me to show her what I actually look like. No problem. Harry, Letta get out.” Damien Heckz relents.

“But-” Harry starts.

“Out now.” Damien demands.

They both leave the room silent following after each other. Damien stares at the door for a little while, then he looks at me. I get a shiver down my spine as he smiles at me.

“Now, Hetessa. What do I look like to you?” He asks me.

I reply with, “You look like an old man, with saggy skin, and bald, with brown eyes.”

“How about now?” He smiles at me again.

I gasp as his form shifts, like he’s getting younger, his skin no longer baggy and sagging. Hair is in the place of his bald head, nice and black one one one side, and a deep dark blue on the other, both sides have dark green highlights. His brown eyes turned blue, one the right side and stayed brown on the other. I leap out of my chair. This is not natural, people can’t just change their looks like that…

“What the…..” I scream.

“Woah! Woah! Come sit down and I’ll explain everything.” Damien tries to coax me back down.

“Aw hell no!” I cuss at him, nonetheless I sat back down, and he had the nerve to laugh at me.
