Summary

Mi padre dijo que hiciera lo que me haga feliz, mi madre dijo que buscara mi sueño pero... ¿Qué sucede cuando yo soy el problema? Con 16 años y sigo sin estar cerca de aquello que me debería apasionar, esperando tan cansadamente esa utopía que me diga que hacer sin defraudar a nadie. Lo adivinaste, esta es mi historia, el viaje de una chica que lucha consigo misma para encontrar su camino. Un diario, una mente, y un corazón indeciso, todo lo que leas es lo que viví. Soy Nia, una entrenadora pokémon con un solo propósito: encontrar su sueño.

0: Prefacio

Me encontraba sobre el verde césped que compartían el bosque y mi casa, o aquel lugar que solía llamar así. Con la vista perdida, solo alcanzaba a ver difusamente las hojas de los árboles moverse con el viento y los pedazos de un cielo azul que se tornaba anaranjado, como si alguien estuviera jugando con acuarelas en el cielo. Mi vista finalmente se centró en una parvada de Pidgey, volando sin miedos ni dudas, solo existían como los pokémon pacíficos que son.—Parece que esta es la última caja —hablaba mi madre, una mujer castaña de apariencia joven —. Muchísimas gracias.

—No hay de qué —respondió uno de los vecinos a los que mi madre pidió ayuda.

Sin siquiera voltear a ver la escena, tome mi bolso y me levante, camine hacia el camión de la mudanza que nos llevaría al aeropuerto. Las despedidas suelen ser difíciles, pero al menos puedes vivir con la esperanza de seguir hablando con la otra persona y el dolor se apacigua un poco, pero ¿Cómo te despides de una región?

Llevo viviendo en Kanto casi desde que tengo memoria, y de pronto me debo mudar a Kalos con mi madre porque, según la ley, no soy lo suficientemente responsable ni autosuficiente para vivir sin un adulto.

Subí al camión que mi madre había rentado y este emprendió su camino al aeropuerto con ella al volante.

—No entiendo por qué insistes en no contratar un servicio —dije.

—No contrato porque no confió en ellos —respondió mi madre —. ¿Y si nos roban? ¿O si no son lo suficientemente cuidadosos?

—Mamá, existe un seguro.

—Pero te cobran más por ello. —Se encogió de hombros —De todas maneras, ya es muy tarde para contratar uno.

En ese momento solo me quedaba aceptar el dolor muscular que me esperaba cuando coloquemos los muebles en la otra casa. Busque en mi bolso mi par de audífonos baratos, aquellos que parecen ser los únicos que funcionan, y los conecte a un viejo MP3 que aún tenía, con alrededor de mil canciones descargadas. “Over The Sky”, una pésima elección para despedirse del lugar que por 11 años fue mi hogar, pero, después de todo, tal vez me ayude a separarme de lo que fui y renacer como alguien nuevo.

Me recosté en el respaldo del asiento, duro, escuchando a todo volumen la música, repitiendo una y otra vez en mi cabeza la misma parte:

«Prometamos que nos encontraremos de nuevo»

Creo que, al final, solo esperaba el momento justo para decir esa frase. Ahora que lo pienso, tal vez Kanto no formaba parte de ese momento.

Me gire hacia la ventana y recargue la cabeza contra mi puño mientras mi brazo reposaba en el espacio entre el cristal de la ventana y la propia puerta del camión. Levante ligeramente los párpados, y mire hacia el ocaso, esa sería la última vez que habré visto el cielo de Kanto.

—Hasta nunca, Kanto — murmuré para mí.

—¿Dijiste algo? —preguntó mi madre.

—No, nada —respondí, volviendo a cerrar mis ojos.
