Cowboys
He ran away,
I begged him to stay,
And he never came back.
He told me it's okay,
That everyone would decay,
But never left a track.
I saw him in my sleep,
told me not to make a peep.
He told me something,
That almost made me weep.
"Listen.
Death isn't as bad as you think.
I'll tell you everything and spill the tea.
It happened so fast, faster than a blink.
I was alive,
Meeting a link.
Then i was dead,
Deader than meat."
I was scared, confused, even more than before.
But he kept talking,
Spilling the lore.
"I promise you the other side is fun.
Together, we could play for hours.
But right now, it's just one.
There's so many flowers!"
I want to join him, so i asked how.
"Go to the window,
And jump right out.
Get your head off the pillow,
And don't even shout.
Its okay
To be afraid,
But i promise it will work out."
He was my friend,
wanted to see him again,
And to do that,
something has to end.
He can't come here,
So i have to go there.
He spoke to me,
Saying, "double dog dare!"
Now I couldn't back down,
I went to the window,
And stood proud.
I would see him once more,
And our time wouldn't be a bore.
We will play,
Grin,
And be wild.
Everything will be okay,
I'll take it on the chin,
And forever be a child.
He will be the hero,
And I will be the decoy.
Once again,
We will be,
Cowboys!
