Chapter 1:
I hated stars.
They looked so perfect… like they never knew what it meant to break.
I sat at the back of the school bus, forehead against the dusty window. The trees blurred past. New town. New school. New lies to tell.
“Don’t mess it up again,”I whispered to myself.
My hands were cold — not because of the weather, but because of fear. Every school felt like a battlefield. I wasn’t a warrior. Just tired.
When the bus stopped, I saw it —Silverlake School.
It looked like an old castle. Grey bricks. Ivy creeping up like green scars. A black iron gate stood tall in front, with an emblem shaped like a crescent moon and a star — strange, for a school.
The building was covered in mist like it belonged in a dream. Or a nightmare.
There were three tall towers, one of them cracked near the top. Students whispered that no one was allowed near it after sunset.
I was feeling tired after the journey I had so , I went to my room.
As soon as I entered, my eyes fall on a girl her back was facing me . I didn’t taken longer to find out that she is my roommate.
She didn’t noticed me yet so I taken some steps forward and tap onto her shoulder. She turned to me.
Hi, we’re roommates “.I said
“Nice to meet you, I’m lena ....you”?
“Mitsuha “...
