Summary

After surviving a near-fatal car crash, Iris wakes in a hospital bruised, disoriented… and missing something she can't explain. Her mother remembers the accident. Her sister stayed by her side. But no one remembers Ethan—the man Iris swears she loved. The man she was certain existed. As memories clash with reality, Iris must question whether she’s losing her mind… or uncovering a truth someone wants her to forget. Friday

The sun is high and vertical in the noon sky, its light hot but soft....not burning no, but warming like a warm hug from your mother, or a little pat on the head from your older sibling, or....a kiss on the lips from a lover.

“Mom please, please just take me”

High pitched voice of a little girl fill the living room of a wooden house, it’s cozy and the colors are calming beige and brown.

“Luna, how many times should i tell you not to speak while eating?”

Said a woman sitting next to the girl who is named Luna, her voice stotic and cold. Both have the same hair color blonde though the girl has green eyes of a forest, while the mother has blue eyes of the ocean.

“Please take me to the Amusement park, all of my friends are going the next weekend”

Luna say in high tone, red face and desperate.

“They gonna talk about it in the school and I’m the only one who isn’t going”

"Enough Luna, i don’t have time for that, i told you I’ll be in work”

Her harsh tone shock the girl into silence

“Eileen, what’s wrong with you she’s just a child”

Says a woman sitting across from Eileen, stopping her sister at her hurtful tone. Eyes hazel of the sun with long lashes making a shadow on her cheekbones, brown wavy hair resting on her shoulders with blonde roots...which means dyed hair.

“Luna, your mom is busy so I’ll take you okay?”

I say in sweet tone to my niece, putting a smile on my lips as i see her eyes lighten.

“Really auntie? It’s gonna be on the next weekend and all my friends will go and...”

She continues rambling and i play a long with her, ruffling her hair before telling her to finish her lunch.

A sigh escapes my lips as i looke at my sister Eileen who’s looking at her daughter with guilt hidden deep in her features.....we’re sisters share only the blonde hair, fair skin and the last name, so different from each other yet, my name is Iris which means eye, while hers is Eileen which means light.

Isn’t beautiful? Our parents knew she’ll be my light and I’ll be her eyes.

refocusing again when her calm tone reach my ears

“Thank you, Iris. You came her for a visit to relax and I’m already burdening you with my daughter”

“Don’t say that” shaking my head with a reassuring smile, holding her hand in mine over the table.

“I’m here for you and I’ll always be, Luna is my daughter just as much yours and i know your work takes most of your time”

My heart tighten with sympathy at her usual calm eyes form a storm of emotions she quickly hide by looking at our joined hands

“What would i do without you? You’ll be a great mother, better than me”

A chuckle escapes my lips feeling my heart flutter, Oh childer i love them with their happy giggles, thier heavenly scent and even thier cries

“Look at you, just at the mention of children get you all happy and energetic”

Eileen shoves my hand away with a laugh deep from her chest, watching her lean back in her seat i cross my arms to my chest, protecting myself from her teasing.

“Don’t start, i didn’t say anything”

“Yeah but your eyes speak, dear sister”

The atmosphere in that house is light and the air filled with happiness, but tell me how long does anything last?

Do happy times really fly fast and disappear before we even say goodbye?

Do gloomy times really last longer? Heavy guests in our lives?

Or is it just our imaginations?

Wednesday

swallow birds Blanketed the orange sky where sunset gives one last push of its light, the main road stretched ahead with no turns.

Few cars lined the road, a cliff on the side of it where it ends with crashing waves.

It’s all quiet and peaceful, like a moment you only live once a year.

Except in that red corolla car where Iris sat in the driver seat crying her eyes out.

What a sight, everything peaceful outside but inside? It’s hell.

My vision blurry with burning tears that refuse to cease, i can barley see the road, can barley hear the loud song above the high drums pf my aching heart.

My head swims, ache and heavy, what did i do to deserve this? My hands tremble on the steering wheel, feeling the car go right and left but i can’t bring myself to care.

It wasn’t supposed to end like this, i should have known...i should have-

“Ahhhh”

A scream rips through my throat as the car title forward as if it was a toy in a child’s hand. The metal groans before it begins to cave down.

“Oh God, Please i don’t wanna die”

I mumbles Wavering words as i see the sea coming closer, I’m falling with my car down to my demise.

Memories flash in front of my eyes in light speed, i didn’t take my niece out yet....didn’t write the story i always postponement for years or did the painting i didn’t finish yet resting in my room dusty.

My heart ie beating harshly, as if it wants to push all its strength in meaningless hope.

This isn’t fair

No please

Oh god

I don’t wanna die

The car crash into the water with a loud strong collision, it slowly sinks deep....leaving a tray of redness on the surface.

Blood, RED.

Maggie Varnum: Like that it was fast paced and suspenseful...loved the romance up ended a little to fast ...would have been better if there was a Luna ceremony chapter and a birth of son with name chapter with Cole as a dramatic dad in the delivery scene .... Overall I enjoyed it very much!

bushbaby: I love the slightly different spin on the were-world and I love love love reading Jaspers story splashed in-between. I honestly did not love Dev, he had no character growth and no arc I just didnt like who he is as a person and that made it hard to keep going about half way through. Without Jaspers ...

Hester: Very good, was short too the point , not lingering on the abuse, pity you didn’t let him step in earlier knowing the abuse was happening, but this is almost real for some women who have gone through it, just wish they could all have a princess at te end of thete tunnel
