THE DREAM ROOM

By J. Wakeel Habudawaki

PLOT SUMMARY:

Once a rising football star from a humble neighborhood, Farooq was destined for greatness. With a natural talent and a heart full of passion, he dreamed of making it big in professional football. But when tragedy struck, his father was killed and his community torn by violence, Farooq was forced to step away from the game and take up a life he never wanted.

For 7 long years, he buried his dream in silence, devoting his life to protecting others, running errands, and suppressing the athlete within him. Yet, he never let go of his dream room, a small, dusty space filled with old trophies, worn-out jerseys, and faded newspaper cuttings.

One day, life brought him full circle. A local girls’ football team, on the brink of disbanding, needed a coach. Reluctant at first, Farooq stepped in and in doing so, reopened the door to his dream, not as a player, but as a mentor.

This is a story of broken paths, buried passion, unexpected comebacks, and how sometimes, our dream doesn't die, it just waits for a new form to live again.
