1. Piya moves to Haveli

Author's POV

The city's distant hum was a gentle backdrop to Piya's soft cooing. In her small room, she sat, feeding her two-year-old son, Krish. Six months had passed since her husband, Dhruv, was gone, leaving Piya to carry all their responsibilities alone.

Dhruv had been disabled since birth, and Piya was married to him at just eighteen, a quiet arrangement made by her parents in exchange for a plot of land. Their union was devoid of passion; Dhruv, anticipating his own end, held no interest in the formalities of marriage. They exchanged few words, speaking only when truly necessary. Piya diligently cared for his needs and the household, finding purpose in the rhythm of daily chores, while Dhruv remained largely confined to his room, a solitary figure in his own world.

Piya's world had shifted deeply, not with Dhruv’s passing, but with Krish's unexpected arrival. It was during one of Dhruv's routine check-ups at the hospital that Piya saw a family shattered by grief—a mother lost in childbirth, a father taking his own life from sorrow. In that moment of profound sadness, Piya chose to adopt Krish. And just like that, she embraced the unexpected motherhood, and her life gained a profound new direction.

After Krish was born, Dhruv, despite his own quiet nature, had embraced fatherhood with a gentle devotion. The last few years of his life, though shadowed by his declining health, had been filled with a quiet joy as he truly raised Krish for those two precious years. They had spent his final days happily, simple moments shared that Piya now cherished.

After Dhruv passed, Piya managed everything for six months by herself. The weight of being a single parent, juggling the house, her baby, and her own needs, was immense. She missed Dhruv, not as a husband, but deeply as Krish's father, the one who had so lovingly helped bring up their son.

Then, one day, her father-in-law, Dhiraj, called. He asked her to move into the Thakur Haveli permanently. Piya felt hesitant. She had never truly lived with her in-laws, only heard the rules: never disobey, always serve, always agree. But with Dhiraj and her brother-in-law, Veer, insisting, she finally said yes. Today was the day she moved.

She dressed in a plain white sari, gathered Krish and her bags, and stepped into the car sent by Dhiraj. They were almost at the village, the haveli just ten minutes away, when the car suddenly stopped. "Bhaiya?" Piya asked the driver. "Kya hua? Ruk kyu gaye aap?" [What happened? Why did you stop?]

"Bahuji, gaadi aage nahi jaa sakti aur, raasta bohot kharab hai," he replied. [Madam, the car cannot go any further, the road is very bad.]

"Bhaiya, do you have umbrella then?" she asked.

The driver shook his head. "Nahi bibiji, baarish achanak se aa gayi isliye nahi laya." [No, Madam, the rain came suddenly, that's why I didn't bring one.]

With no other choice, and seeing the rain wouldn't stop soon, Piya asked the driver to take her bags. She held Krish close, shielding him with her sari, and began walking the short distance to the haveli.

After ten minutes in the pouring rain, they reached the grand entrance. Piya walked towards the door. Inside, Dhiraj was reading his newspaper in the hall. He looked up, standing instantly.

"Veer, come down fast, Piya is here!" he called out. "Sanjay, bring hot towels for Bahuji!" he barked at the house helper.

Dhiraj hurried across the hall to Piya. He gently took Krish, looking at Piya with wide eyes. Veer also ran down the stairs.

"Baccha, ye kya haalat bana diya apna aur Krish ka, call karna chahiye tha na," Dhiraj said, sounding concerned. [Baccha, what state have you made of yourself and Krish, you should have called, right?]

"Babuji, network nahi tha aur gaadi aage nahi jaa rahi thi baarish ki wajah se, isliye chalke aana pada." [Father, there was no network and the car wasn't going forward because of the rain, that's why we had to walk.] As she spoke, Dhiraj and Veer stopped listening. Their eyes were fixed on her.

Piya was completely soaked. Her hair was damp, her cheeks flushed, and her sari was now transparent, clinging to her body. Her deep-cut blouse showed her cleavage, the outline of her full breasts visible, and her smooth belly was bare where the wet sari clung. Drops of water ran down her wide hips. Sanjay, standing a little behind them, also watched, his eyes dark with desire. Lust filled their gazes.

Piya, however, was completely unaware. She simply patted herself dry with a towel, even rubbing her wet breasts, not noticing their stares.

Dhiraj cleared his throat when she finished. "Bahu, take Krish. Sanjay will show you your room." [Daughter-in-law, take Krish. Sanjay will show you your room.] Piya mumbled a quiet "okay," took Krish, and followed Sanjay and her bags to her new room, leaving behind a heavy silence filled with unsaid, forbidden desires.
