Prologue

Moon was very sad.

“Why does no one love me?” he wondered, black tears streaming from his eyes. He watched the children having fun with his brother, Sun.

Everyone had fun with Sun, but not with Moon. Even though he wasn’t specially programmed to play, he still could and wanted to, like a nighttime game before bed.

But the children ran away as soon as they saw him.

Sun turned to look at him. Moon looked at him, then Sun smiled mockingly and stuck out his tongue. Moon got annoyed and turned around to go back to the darkness of his room.

Why didn’t the children want to play with him too?

He was also an excellent babysitter. He wanted to spend time with them. He wanted to be able to hold them and rock them, tell them a bedtime story, and sing them a sweet song.

But they cried, screamed, and kicked for him to let them go. Moon couldn’t deny them permission to leave.

He walked through his room in the tower and saw all the drawings Sun used to stick on the wall, drawings the children gave him, an experience he’d never had before. None of them featured him, only Sun and happy children.

The drawings Moon featured showed the children sad and crying. Why? He just wants to take care of them and make them happy.

Why had they done it if no one wanted him? He couldn’t even say hello without someone running away.

And Sun just mocking him didn’t help at all.

It wasn’t fair.

He could give so much.

When would someone approach him?

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters. I know it sounds critical, but I have the same problem and I hate it. Overall, it was one of the best stories I've read on here so far. I liked it better than those M...
