The Arrival part 2

🌘 Part 2: The Arrival

(From the story Reborn in the 100th, following Part 1: Shadow Glaze)

A sudden gust rippled through the twilight mist over the goblin gates. The realm was shifting — a new presence had entered.

From the heart of the human world, a tall figure stepped forward: elegant, confident, and far too human to belong here.

His silver-black cloak fluttered behind him as his boots touched the mossy stones of the Goblin Realm.

Onsel had arrived.

His eyes sparkled with playful mischief, and yet his presence held an unnatural grace — the kind only seen in ancient, magical bloodlines. He was beautiful, like a fallen star stitched into human form. A half-demon, half-human being, called into a world of secrets for a task no one dared name aloud.

At the gates, Kelith in dark robes waited.

She stand still ,arms crossed. She said nothing. But Onsel knew who she was instantly.

> "You must be Kelith," he said, smiling as if this were a date and not destiny.

"Your father said someone would meet me. I didn’t expect... mystery in motion."

She didn’t respond. Only turned silently and began walking back toward the castle.

> “Alright then,” Onsel muttered with a smirk. “We’ll work on the conversation later.”

They passed ancient lanterns, glowing with soul-light. Goblins peeked through windows, curious but distant. No one approached. No one greeted.

Only the silence of the realm walked beside them.

The palace loomed ahead, carved from dark stone and moonlight. When they entered the hall, it was just as Onsel imagined: cold, vast, silent.

And on the throne, the Goblin King waited.

His crown was twisted with ancient roots, and his eyes glowed like forgotten fire.

Kelith stepped forward first, offering a slight bow.

> “Welcome back, daughter,” the King said, with the faintest warmth.

“You may return to your chambers now. We’ll speak tomorrow.”

Without a word or glance toward Onsel, Kelith turned and disappeared into the shadows.

Only when she was gone did the King’s voice change — lower, sharper, older.

> “You know why you’re here, don’t you, Onsel?”

Onsel straightened. “You told me I was to be her guide — into the human world. To prepare her rebirth.”

The King’s expression darkened, as if that answer wasn’t enough.

> “You’ve heard of our laws,” he said. “But not all of them.”

> “A goblin cannot be reborn alone. The curse — or the blessing — demands one thing: they must be married before their hundredth year ends. Or their soul will remain locked in shadow.”

Onsel said nothing at first. His usual teasing smirk faded.

Then quietly:

> “And you think I’m the one.”

The King nodded.

> “She listens to no one. She trusts no one. She barely believes in rebirth, let alone love. But if she can open her heart to you — even a little — there’s hope.”

> “She cannot know the truth yet. That part comes later. For now, win her trust. Be her tutor. And if fate allows... become something more.”

Onsel gave a slow, respectful bow.

> “Then my lesson begins tomorrow.”

> “Indeed,” the King said, eyes distant. “And your trial… has already begun.”
