Chapter 1
It was a holy day, and Maria Celestine spent every second of it in prayer with the sisters.
She was fasting, seeking purity, chastening her soul.
But her mind… kept drifting.
Not to the scriptures. Not to the rosary.
To a certain hunk.
A hunk she had spent all of last night watching perform at KayCon—a hunk who was currently on his world tour and would be arriving in her city tomorrow.
She pressed her hands together tighter, trying to refocus on the words, but the sticker from his merchandise glinted faintly on her wrist as she moved. She quickly hid it under her sleeve.
“Amen.”
Six hours of prayer. Six hours on her knees. Her body ached in ways she didn’t think holiness required.
The sisters filed into the dining hall for their first meal after the fast. The smell of fresh bread and stew filled the air.
“I’m going to sleep all day on my break tomorrow,” Sister Esther boasted as they sat down.
Tomorrow was their one day off for the month—the only time they were allowed outside the monastery. Maria’s heart fluttered. She would finally get to attend his concert.
“And you, Sister Maria? What are you doing tomorrow?” Sister Ruth asked, beaming at the warm meal before them.
“I’ll probably visit the orphanage,” Maria lied sweetly. Well… technically not a full lie. She would visit the orphanage. Just before heading to see him.
“Oh my God, he’s so handsome!” someone suddenly squealed.
The room froze. Every nun turned toward the source of the outburst.
Maria followed their gaze—and her spoon clattered to the table.
Holy Mother of God.
Kaden Law was standing in their dining room.
