Prologue
The Elveren always were. As the world developed, growing in shape and size, as species evolved and became extinct, the Elveren lived in harmony with all. Eventually other races grew, creeping from the treetops or leaving the seas, building tools and homes. Building weapons.
When humans and Elveren first met there was distrust but the ancient Elveren managed to befriend their human neighbours, teaching them art and music, science and nature. As time passed and humans became more populous, however, humankind began to covet what the Elveren had wrought. Seeking to take by force what the Elveren would not give freely, the humans declared war on their ancient neighbours.
The battles were frightful with terrible losses on both sides but the humans, who bred with ease, finally swarmed over the Elveren and slaughtered them bitterly. In a desperate bid to preserve their way of life, a few of the Elveren, deep-thinkers and wielders of magic, sealed off their homeland from the rest of the world through the use of forbidden and dark magics. Enraged by their actions the humans tried to enter their lands but were murdered in their thousands by a ring of protection.
Humankind grew and developed, swarming across the land and using it for their own needs, wasting and warring until the Elveren again came under threat.
