The descriptions of glowing fungi, moss, and dangerous nocturnal predators give the environment a high fantasy quality. The world operates with RPG mechanics creatures have weak points, loot drops, ex[p, and survival is a balance of risk versus reward. This combination of fantasy imagery and game-system logic makes the setting feel immersive and dangerous. Some rules of the world (EXP, healing, mana) are only lightly touched upon, which might confuse readers new to the genre. However you can contend that people know what they are getting into with a book such as this. I assume this gets brushed on more in coming chapters. The narrative follows two sisters who have left the safety of home to carve out survival for themselves. The opening chapters take them from a boar hunt to a tense journey home and ultimately to a life-threatening wolf attack. The progression is clean: hunt → reward → rising tension → ambush → cliffhanger. A well paced first chapter. I am only knocking the star for written style as I personally felt the tension and scene transitions can be a bit more polished as it was a bit abrupt. Id like to see that tension build up an extra 2 sentences minimum. A strong start with vivid world-building and gripping action; a bit more emotional depth and clarity of world rules could elevate it further as you progress this story. "
