Chapter 1
Authorâs POV "I canât love you. I never will. Our worlds are differentâwhy donât you understand that?" His voice rose, sharp like a blade cutting through the silence.
She flinched. The tears she had been holding back broke free, spilling down her cheeks like a river that refused to be dammed. Her voice, fragile and trembling, barely above a whisper, escaped her lips.
"So thatâs it? You never loved me the way I loved you? Then why? Why did you give me hope? Why did you make me feel special? Why treat me differentlyâonly to rip it all away? Why didnât you just let me stay in my misery?"
He stood still, unmoved. His expression was unreadableâcold, distant, as if every word of hers was striking against a wall of ice. His silence cut deeper than any rejection could.
Her voice cracked, rising into a scream.
"Answer me! Donât you dare stand there and say nothingâI need your answers!"
Her trembling hands gripped his collar, desperate to pull somethingâanythingâout of him. He caught her wrists in a tight hold, lowering his head as he whispered, his tone heavy with finality:
"Not every action is meant to be love. You⊠are my responsibility."
The word responsibility stabbed her harder than any knife. But before she could react, his voice rose again, bitter and sharp.
"How could I have left you in that shity situation? Did you expect me to walk away and let you die? Is that what you wanted?"
She broke then. Her sobs shook her whole body, the pain spilling from her lips in broken words.
"You know what this! This pain hurts more then that hell I'm suffering" she broke infront of him helplessly but again wishpers
"Why canât you love me? I gave you everything. Is it really so hard to love someone who would die for you? Does my love mean nothing?" She questions him but forgot that her questions and her words mean nothing to the person who's standing infront of him
"Please⊠donât leave me. I donât care what the world says. Youâre everything to meâI canât live without you. Isnât my love enough? Am I not enough for you?"
Her eyes searched his desperately, begging, pleading for even the smallest fragment of affection. But his reply was colder than the silence before.
"Iâm sorry. We were never meant for each other. You may not care about the world, but I do. Every word they throw at usâit cuts deeper than you can imagine. I canât do this. I canât love you."
And just like thatâhe turned his back, leaving her shattered, her sobs echoing in the emptiness. Piece by piece, her heart broke into fragments too sharp to gather. She had only wanted love, just a little, enough to fight against the world. But destiny⊠destiny had other plans.
And once again, the cruel game of the world won over the fragile heart of a girl in love.

The cinema hall went silent as the voiceover end and screen faded to black.
Until a loud voice broke through the stillness.
"What the actual hell was that?!" YN shot up from her seat, glaring at the blank screen as if she could drag the male lead out by his collar. "Jerk! Idiot! Couldnât he see her love? She was ready to die for him! And he justâjust walked away?!"
Her words tumbled out like rapid fire, earning stares from the entire theatre. A couple of people chuckled. Others frowned, clearly annoyed.
Sab, her best friend, wanted the earth to open up and swallow her whole. She quickly stood, bowing apologetically. "Sorry! Sheâs⊠uh⊠very emotional," she muttered, dragging YN out of the theatre before security could.
Outside, Sab finally released her, arms crossed and face unimpressed.
"YN⊠seriously? You caused another scene."
YN rolled her eyes, throwing her hands in the air.
"Excuse me? Another scene? No, no, Sab. The real scene is in there. That so-called âmale leadâ? Pathetic! What kind of man acts like that?! And what kind of nonsense movie is this"
Sab sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. "It happens in real life too, you know. People can be like that. We canât always blame themâsometimes the situation really is worse than it looks. Love is complicated, YN. If you have it, you have to fight for it. If you donât⊠youâre already in pain."
YN groaned dramatically. "Sab, please. Not with the life lessons right now. My brain is allergic." She grinned mischievously, shaking her head. "Anyway, love? Nah. Not for me and Beides Love is literally the last thing on my priority list Iâm perfectly happy with my single, drama-free life. I donât need some mafia jerk breaking my heart."
Sab only smiled softly, watching her. YN was loud, dramatic, a little childishâbut innocent in ways she didnât even realize. But No matter how childish and dramatic YN could be, she adored her best friend like a little sister. She knew YNâs heart was pureâinnocent, even. But deep down, Sab also knew the truth.
Destiny always had its own plans.
And whether YN believed it or notâher story was only just beginning.
After the movie night, YN waved goodbye to Sab and headed back to her apartment. The night air was cool, carrying the faint scent of rain. She walked with a little bounce in her step, humming softlyâa melodious tune that matched her carefree heart. Her voice was light, almost chirping, filling the empty street like a secret song.
It wasnât that late. The city still buzzed faintly in the distance, but her street was quieter than usual. Too quiet.
Just as she passed under a lamppost, the streetlight flickered onceâthen went out.
YN froze, her heart skipping. Darkness swallowed the road, and for a split second, she felt like the world had stopped breathing. She bit her lip, forcing herself to exhale.
"Okay⊠thatâs new," she muttered under her breath, trying to brush it off with her usual sass.
She quickly pulled out her phone, turning on the torchlight. The weak glow was her only shield against the suffocating blackness. Each step she took echoed louder than it should, bouncing off the silence of the street.
But thenâshe felt it.
That strange, unexplainable unease blooming in her chest. Like eyes burning into her back. Like a shadow that didnât belong.
Her humming stopped.
She quickened her pace, sneakers tapping faster against the pavement. The air seemed heavier, her throat tighter. She didnât dare turn around, not yet.
By the time her apartment complex came into view, her chest was pounding, urging her forward. Reaching the gate, she finally gathered the courage to glance back.
Nothing.
The street was empty. Silent. Not a soul in sight.
Her shoulders slumped as she let out a shaky laugh. "Wow, YN⊠really? Spooked by a lightbulb. Congrats," she muttered, rolling her eyes at herself. She shrugged it off and slipped inside the building.
Her apartment welcomed her with familiar warmth. Tossing her bag aside, she collapsed onto the couch, sinking into the cushions with relief. For a moment, she closed her eyes, letting the exhaustion melt her nerves away.
Untilâ
Buzz.
Her phone vibrated against the table.
Her brows furrowed. She hadnât been expecting any messages this late. Reaching over lazily, she picked it up. The screen lit up.
An unknown number.
One unread message.
She tapped it open.
"Be careful on dark streets, little bird. Not everyone watching you has good intentions."
YNâs eyes widened as she read the message.
Her heart lurched. The words werenât threatening exactly, but they werenât comforting either. They felt⊠heavy. Like a warning. Like someone had been watching her.
She shot up from the couch, checking her windows, her door, the shadows in every corner of her apartment. Nothing. Only silence.
Her phone buzzed again.
"Lock your windows."
Her breath caught. She turned, almost stumbling over her own feet as she hurried to the nearest window. Wide open. The night air still flowing in. Her fingers fumbled as she yanked it shut, pulling the curtains tight.
"Okay⊠okay, this is officially creepy," she muttered under her breath, trying to laugh it off, though her voice trembled.
Another vibration. Another message.
"Donât be afraid. Fear is what they feed on."
Her stomach twisted. They? Who was they? Who was sending these messages?
She quickly typed back with shaky hands.
Who is this? How do you know where I live?
For a few secondsânothing. The silence stretched until she thought maybe whoever it was had gone.
Then her phone lit up again.
"Youâll know soon enough. Sleep now, little bird. Youâre safe⊠for tonight."
YNâs heart hammered against her ribs. Safe for tonight? What kind of message was that?! She wanted to scream, call Sab, call the police, do somethingâbut instead, she just stood frozen in the middle of her apartment.
It's not like she's in panic mood but she's shooked
