Protagonist 1: Nayla Mohammed

Intelligent, quiet, and deeply scarred by her near-death accident and the guilt of surviving through her father’s sacrifice. She studied nursing in college but never completed her postgraduate plans due to family obligations.
Personality: Gentle and empathetic but carries a heaviness in her soul. She often feels like a visitor in her own father’s house, unseen and unheard.
The Mohammed Family
Father: Late Alhaji Mohammed – respected businessman, Muslim, strict but dutiful; died after donating his lungs to Nayla. Mother: Amina Mohammed – 46, accountant living in the U.S. with Nayla before her return to Nigeria. Devoted to her daughter, estranged from her ex-husband’s family.
Stepmothers:
First wife (eldest stepmother): Hafsat Mohammed – traditional, deeply aligned with family reputation.
