Oceans Apart from regular romance
"This is the sweetest and most heartwarming love story I have read in a long, long time. But that's not all. This is the most delightful slow-burn that grows on you over time, and stays with you long after you have finished reading the whole book. But that's not all, either. Amelia is shy, introverted, a social recluse. Thomas is reserved, equally shy and reclusive. They meet online, while logged on to the same video game, and gets close. But "close" is not close enough. There's a gap of 5000 miles, and the Atlantic standing between them. How they manage to reduce, overcome, and eventually eliminate that distance is a story for everyone to read and discover. And experience. That's what this book is really about: EXPERIENCE. You don't just read it. You feel it. You absorb it. And you experience it. The prose is simple and delightfully peppy. The dialogs are crisp and short. But what truly impresses you is the sweet innocence of the lead characters embedded in each chapter and paragraph. If innocence had a name, it would be "Amelia". Or "Thomas". Or both. What makes this story great are the side characters: Russef and Natasha, and my favorite, Aunt Joslyn. They are wonderfully etched, with clearly-defined and well-developed character arcs, and they each deserve a separate book. A sequel for each. Which brings me to the most unique feature of this book --- the 2 epilogues, and 3 bonus chapters at the very end. Rain Dayze surprises us by adding dollops of startling facts, and dropping nuggets of mind-blowimg revelations that suddenly turn the whole experience thrilling and exciting. Just when you thought the story was over, these nuggets drop one after the other, reigniting your curiosity all over again. No other writer I know of possesses this ability to keep you hooked long after the whistle has been blown. And the possibility of getting to see 3 sequels to this book in the impending future is a thrilling prospect. This book is head-and-shoulders above the formula stuff that we get to read these days. It is "oceans apart" from run-of-the-mill stereotypes that pass off as romance on online platforms across the world. Sequel one, please!"

A Beautiful Love Story Worth Crossing Oceans For!
"Rain Dayze gives us a loosely based-on-a-true-story romance full of heart! Told from the eyes of two young introverts from opposite sides of the globe who meet via a computer game, this is a lovingly written tale of modern romance. The protagonists, Amelia and Tommy, are super loveable, and you can’t help but root for them. Without giving anything away, this is a story that shows no distance is too great for true love and that sometimes distance actually enhances a relationship in the best possible ways. I read the first 10 chapters and final epilogues in conjunction with judging for the Green Exchange Awards 2026—which garnered 3rd Place in the Romance Category... CONGRATULATIONS!!!✨ And while there were parts I wished were focused on a bit more and the storyline did get a bit ‘telly’ at times, Rain Dayze’s technical/grammatical skills are well done! The storyline is strong and the characters were fun and heartwarming. If you’re looking for something to brighten your day and make you feel like life is alright, then I suggest giving Oceans Apart a go. It was a lovely read to finish out this contest, and I’m very happy to have been assigned this sweet story! Keep up the good work, RD! 💖"
Ocean's Apart GEA 2026 Review
"I did enjoy this book and the fact that it is based on a true story. There is a ring of truth to the events which make the plot believable without needing to resort to suspension of belief. There are some small problems with mixed up words and other small grammatical errors, but only one or two made me stop to reread a passage. I fell in love with Thomas as quickly as Amelia did. I recommend you read this book to find out why. The problems these two resolve on their way to happily ever after were complex and emotionally messy which is exactly what makes a great read. "

"Overall, this was a cute story between two people without much experience in the dating world finding each other through an online game. While the story felt a bit rushed and I felt like we were missing out on their lives at times, it was very cute to see them awkwardly navigate new love and that eventual happily ever after. Well done, author. I’d love to give it another read if you decide to add more meat to the plot! "
