Chapter 1. Eyes don't lie
Piya's POV
"Dad it's fine, driver uncle will drop me!" I retorted back.
"You sure beta?" He asked me once again. I nodded.
(Beta- dear)
I walked out of the mansion. The black car waiting for me to get in. I got in the back seat.
"Good morning Sameer uncle!" I greeted him with a wide smile.
"Good morning Piya. So ready for your new college? First day? Scared?" He asked me while removing the car from the parking, his eyes glued to driving.
"Maybe a little nervous because I am an introvert person and barely manage to make any friends." I said while shrugging off my shoulders.
"Hmm I see. Maybe you should try making few friends." He suggested and I hmmed in response.
My eyes roamed outside the window. It's eight in the morning. My eyes explored the way as it passes by.
PIYA SHARMA.
20 years old, living with my cute small family. My father is a reputable commissioner. My mother is a well renowned lawyer. We used to stay in Delhi but due to dad's transfer to Mumbai we are here. And currently I am heading for my new college, first day for me.
Quite nervous and over thinking about what kind of friends I shall make or I shall barely make any friends because I don't know but I am used to be in solitude.
I barely had two friends in my last college in Delhi and now it's none.
Making friends is as hard as making some paranoid to believe in someone for me.
I have always been an isolated and studious child. Scoring my subjects, participating in speeches was my only job. And I still do.
It's not like my parents made me an isolated person but it's me from the very start who never wanted to have any friends. It's a long story. Sometimes betrayals comes from the person whom you dear the most. And from that believing in friends is like a joke to me on which I don't laugh.
Every next person who tries to befriend me feels like the only person who can hurt me the most. So it's better to have your own business rather involve more people to your life.
It's better to make deals for our benefits and then leave away once done. No attachments. Well, I never had one in thos past years of my life and I never felt like having one. Just my simple, elegant ongoing life with no regrets.
Because I believe once a mistake is done it's done it can't be undone. It's better one apologizes and moves on.
"Here we are dear." Sameer uncle said.
"Thanks Uncle!"
I exited the car and stood at the gate.
"Have a nice day dear!" He exclaimed from the car and I smiled back at him.
ST. BRANDON UNIVERSITY
I read at the gate and stepped in. I saw everyone engrossed in their work. Some were studying at the bench, while some were enjoying, hanging out. Some were even making out in yhe corner and no one bothered. Some were bullying others and some girls with short dresses which barely covered their skin walked like they were on the ramp.
What the hell! Is this my new university!
Here, girls barely cover their skin, all in some kind of dresses that are too short. Is this a hangout club?
I looked down at my attire. Simple short sleevesless kuri with denim jeans and shoes and jhumkas and a silver watch around my wrist gifted by my dad. My hair tied up with the clutcher. I looked fine! I saw some girls like me and I sighed as I moved ahead. I thought I would never find anyone like me here.
I entered the university. I logged in my phone to look what class I had got for today. I walked off to the receptionist near by. She showed me the way to class.
"May I come in Sir?"
"Yeah Ms. Sharma!" The professor allowed me.
"Look class, we have a new member between us. Please introduce yourself Ms. Sharma to the class."
The proffessor said.
Gathering all my strength, I somehow managed to utter something.
"Myself Piya Sharma and I have newly joined. It's nice to meet you all."
"So what do you have piya sharma?" One of the boy smirked throwing the question at me like it's some joke they are preparing to throw on me.
Bullying! I hate that!
"Behave Mr. Roy!" The professor warned him.
I said nothing and mad my way to a empty seat between two girls.
"Hey! I am Riya! You are new but don't worry not everyone bites here!" She whispered while the professor wrote some things on the board.
"Thanks, I felt so out of place when I entered here!" I said.
"Don't worry, I shall guide you."
"Thanks Riya." I smile at her.
She seemed a cheerful soul to me. She was too dressed a me, as simple as fine. We discussed many things together and finally the class ended.
We were both walking through the corridor. She kept telling me about the University and how it works here.
"Look, everyone here are rich kids so obviously you would find most of them rude, egoistic and bitch except me!"
"I see that." I said while giggling.
"The worst here is..." Before she could complete her words, my shoulder bumped into a girl. And my bag fell down on the ground. I bend down to pick up my bad.
While a big red heels came into my view. My eyes wandered at the heels and the bare legs. I took my bag and stood up.
"What the hell girl! Can't you see properly. Looks like you need another pair of glasses." She said while rolling her eyes and laughing maniacally.
She looked like those witches in the movies who wants the world dancing under their feet. She was gorgeous but her face only spoke dozen of makeup. Her lips painted dark red and her cheeks adorbed with so much blush. Everything on her face spoke heavy makeup an powder.
And her clothes?
Barely any clothes to be specific. She worea short peach dress that barely reached her thighs and her the neck line was barely hiding her breast.
"Well we haven't seen you around!" One of the girl from behind said.
Looked like from the same community!
"She is new!" Riya said.
"Oh! New bie, then she needs a proper welcome, don't you sweetheart?" She said eyeing me from head to toe.
"Leave her alone Tanya!" Riya said and the girl rolled ger eyes at her.
"Whatever!" She said and walked off past me.
"Well, the worst here is this! Tanya, she thinks the college runs on her demands an commands!" Riya said shrugging off her shoulders.
"What do you mean?"
"Basically she is the bitch over here like every bitch in the movies who ruins the University and behaves like everyone wants her and thinks that she rules here!"
"Pathetic!" I said.
"Exactly!"
We walked to the cafeteria. She ordered some coffee for herself and same do I.
"Rule no one, never ever cross paths with Tanya Chakraborty because if she finds you as a threat for herself she would either invite you in your team and if you refused then she would make your life a living hell here until you pass out!"
"Oh so she owns a group too. That's why the four girls followed her like a puppy chained to their owners!" Is aid and she laughed out.
"I like you! You sound exactly correct!"
"Rule no two, never ever fall for the boys of Brandon University!" She said like it's a warning.
"Why?"
"You shall see soon!" She said and I frowned.
"Rule no three, chill when I am around girl! We could enjoy, go to parties and make friends and study that would be barely on our list!" She exclaimed.
"Now don't tell me you are a bookworm!" She said with a poker face suddenly.
"I am!" I replied while sipping my coffee. We sat at a bench in the cafeteria only.
"Doesn't matters, I can convert you into a another one!"
"What?" I almost spitted my coffee.
"Chill girl! I am joking!"
"Whatever." I shrugged off.
Just then a commotion entered the cafeteria with a lot of people with it.
"Here comes the trouble!" Riya said.
"What do you mean?"
"Look by yourself sweetie!"
I looked in the direction where the noise was coming from.
A group of boys being followed by none another than those girls which bumped into me recently.
"Atleast listen na Ansh!"
"Fuck off Tanya, we have nothing to say!"
"You don't get to say that to me!" she yelled at the boy while running behind him. His back faced me from a distance. I could barely see him.
Why was she running behind that boy?
ANSH?
That was his name?
And why the hell there's a crowd of boys abd girls behind him?
Just then he turned and his face now was visible to me. My eyes stared at him. My throat dry as I stared at the undeniably handsome face.
His sharp jawline, his black, dark eyes that spoke depth and dominance. His muscled body visible beneath the black jacket he wore above a black tshirt beneath and a black jeans down. His neck was followed by a tattoo which disappeared beneath the collar of the black leather jacket he wore.
His hair jet black and few strands falling on his face make him look more attractive and handsome. He looked intimated. His jaw was clenched as he rush forward ignoring the beauty bitch Tanya or to say that the painted Canvas because she resembled the same.
His demeanour somehow seems holding power, dark power that only he hold among the boys around. I saw one calling him boss as he moves around.
I stared at him as he moved forward ordering a coffee for himself in a cup and being followed by a group of boys who looked same as him but yet something lacked in them. The way he moved, the way he looked, it was different and powerful. Different from the boys around him, he moved with confident and firmness. Then, I saw tattoos drawn on his left muscled arm, veins poking out.
The boys blocked the way for the painting canvas and her group and she huffed aside in anger because she was neglected, I chuckled at the sight.
"Already falling for the boy? Hmm? Breaking Rule no two too soon Piya!" Riya snapped me out of the scene while drinking her coffee.
"Didn't you said to look myself?" I raised my one eyebrow.
"Smart girl! Well don't forget rule no two soon! It's dangerous here without following that!" Riya warned again.
"I see!" Is said and moved my gaze towards the tall, powerful, demanding figure.
He walked swiftly, his gaze fixed but as he walked towards the exit with the coffee in his hands.
His dark, black eyes met mine. He stared at me for a good second and my breath got hitched, while our eyes met and I tried to divert my gaze but failed terribly. The second our eyes met something snapped in him and I saw the subtle shift of his demeanour and how his eyes stayed more longer staring me than it should. The way his expression got stilled. The noise disappearing in the background, his jaw clenched as he stared at me. My glasses hung low between my eyes.
Something changed inside me when our eyes met! Maybe for a second but it was?
Did I break Rule two this fast?
Now I saw what Riya meant!
Was I imagining thing!
Piya get a grip! This university barely holds a bookworm like you!
Did he got nervous when he saw me?
No! Stop saying that Piya!
Remember Rule two, until you pass out this university.
But why there's so much control of the rich kids here on the college!
Definitely something to do with the university!
He walked away followed by the crowd he brought with him. I sighed and turned back to Riya who was staring at me intensely.
"Eyes don't lie darling!" Riya said.
How's the chapter?

Hi there!
I just started reading your story Bandook Meri Laila, and it completely captured my heart. Every scene is written so beautifully that it felt magical especially the way the tension between Piya and the dominant, conflicted boy makes every interaction feel charged with emotion and depth as their relationship shifts from enemies to something more. I’d love to share it with a few friends who would appreciate it just as much. Can’t wait to see more of your amazing work! You can also find me on Instagram: @lizziedoesitall.
