Prologue 1 - The Prophecy

The area is dimly lit, illuminated by a handful of candles mounted on the tree walls, the room is circular with a little decoration aside from the walls. In the centre was a man whose ears are unnaturally long and green flower tattoos scale his arm.

He's kneeling on the floor, one hand grasping his head desperately while the other is on the floor as if to stop him from falling. He's groaning and whispering in pain, saying things incomprehensible, yet it's clear pain is the only thing he feels.

After some time he begins to groan something under his deep breaths, “Era… changing… death… replace…” Only a few words are comprehensive, yet the look on his face shows how grave the situation is. He rises onto his feet, barely holding himself from falling. When he reaches his hand out and green mist begins to appear from it, he begins to exclaim,

“Oh prophecy, long-” groans of pain cut him off.

“Forgotten, long ignored. Bring forth your consequences and—” He stumbles and nearly falls yet brings himself up.

“Let this era be born anew. Allow the pursuit of enlightenment through-” He coughs up blood yet keeps going.

“Apathy be born once more. Allow the maintenance of equilibrium to be sustained by a new form of Duality. Allow a Song to be written for sorrow and joy by a new artist.” He says it in quick succession, yet that causes more blood to fall from his mouth, yet despite death knocking, he still holds up.

“Allow the land to witness Change through a new lens. Allow mortals to obey Or-” One of his legs fails him, causing him to fall, yet he rises once more.

“Allow mortals to obey Order and law and see their actions be met with consequences. Allow the knife that forces mortals to be resilient to leave its Trickery for a new comedian. Allow the shield of-” relentless coughing stops the continuation of the sentence, yet he holds strong.

“The shield of mortal failure to be passed onto a new welder and the duty of Aegis to be raised up high.” He braces himself before continuing.

“Allow the past of this land to be forever recorded in history and for Vestige to never delete or ignore any history. Allow this era of fracture to heal and be born anew so that calamity may not impose on the land.

Allow the gods to die!”

And with that the man's hand falls to his side as he falls onto the floor in a pool of blood.
