prologue
Since the dawn of time, humans and angels lived side by side—an unspoken pact of harmony between mortal and divine. From their union came a new breed: hybrid children, born of angel and human blood, blessed with extraordinary powers that shimmered like stars against the night sky.
For centuries, peace reigned. The humans lived their fleeting lives, passing when their time came, never stolen too soon. The angels, immortal and vigilant, watched over them—guardians of balance and keepers of order.
But paradise is fragile.
Darkness stirred within the heart of Empyrean, the radiant Silver City. A faction of angels, led by the once-bright Lucifer, rebelled against the eternal order. His rebellion sparked the first war in history—one stained with blood, betrayal, and fire. Angels fell by the thousands, their wings broken in brutal battle. The innocent—humans and hybrids alike—were hunted and slaughtered without mercy. No soul was safe from the carnage.
For two long centuries, war ravaged both heaven and earth. The light of Empyrean dimmed, its defenders worn thin by relentless assaults. Lucifer’s power swelled, dark and unstoppable, until the scales of fate finally tipped.
In a cataclysmic judgment, Lucifer and his followers were cast down—exiled from Empyrean, condemned to an endless abyss. This pit, which they named Avernus, became Lucifer’s dark paradise, a kingdom forged in shadows and iron will, where he ruled with unyielding cruelty.
The aftermath left Empyrean shattered, its ranks thinned to a fragile few. The remaining angels on Earth retreated, burdened by loss and betrayal. Humanity, now fearful and fractured, turned its back on the celestial protectors, plunging into chaos once more.
To save the remnants of hope, each angel was entrusted with a sacred vow—to guard a family, a nation, a flicker of light from afar, shielding souls from the ever-encroaching darkness Lucifer had unleashed.
Yet faith faded. Belief in angels became a whisper among the masses, while Lucifer’s shadow spread wide, growing stronger, relentless, and more cunning with every passing day.
The eternal battle between light and shadow rages on. Whether it will end—and who will rise victorious—remains the question haunting all creation.
