What is your opinion?

One of my favorites

"I read this a few years ago when Brad was relatively unknown, but I could tell right away that he had a talent for writing and a story to tell. This novel is very character driven and would make the basis for a fantastic ensemble cast movie. The depth of the characters is strong with gritty details that remind me of people I've met over the years. The storyline drives to a grim ending yet there is hope in the gloominess. I highly recommend this book."

very interesting indeed

"What struck me most was his creativity in writing and the frame of thought that makes us want to continue reading. This story reminds me of a movie that a police officer in a bar took something and woke up at a game stop and only survived the fight he managed to kill all the participants. Something well suspended and chilling almost I did not finish. Success for your work."

Bold and Fascinating

"I was truly amazed at the human aspects that are so important in this book. Brad Stephens brings out such real humanness in all of the characters. The plot is certainly intense but moves along at the perfect pace to keep you pulled into the story. The book was humorous at times but I also at times could place myself in the story. Sometimes I questioned my place in this world."

Nicely written

"This is a well written piece of story and the author's writing style drove me into it right from the beginning. The pace was good and the characters were well drawn. It's a pity to find parents have a strong hold on their children especially Aileen who seemed to need help right from the start. The arrangement of shoes in her house, the way her mother taught her, made her what she had become as an adult. This made way for her family and marriage to break up. Roxy, who was abused as a child by her parents, was also a sad case. Overall I enjoyed reading the story and hope to read more. Thanks."

Do Justice and Love Mercy

"This story is a well written, deeply layered tragic tale. The characters in it are all broken, but completely believable and compelling. Your heart breaks for their unique circumstances. The first half of the story is really a you can't judge a book by its cover, and gives you a taste of what people see on the outside isn't what is on the inside of a person. The themes of redemption and restoration ring throughout and that sometimes the darkest evils can be a catalyst for good. I was saddened by how certain people's stories wrapped up but Brad does justice to reality in that not every story has a happy ending. His faith in a loving God that has His hand on everything in this life is more than evident, but his perspective is refreshing, it feels sincere. A moving and interesting read. "
