Fun with some meat to it
"This book gave me the warm fuzzies. But, unlike a lot of other variations on the Beauty and the Beast tale, it also did a lot more. I loved the classic fantasy setting--it had an edginess and a sense of realism to it, but also never lost its fairy-tale charm. The world of Beast sucked me right in and made me feel at home. Adalina was such an awesome protagonist!! I loved how practical and warm-hearted she was. She was very human and very feminine, and yet also very strong, which was incredibly inspiring. The Assassin was also a really well-rounded, cool character. I loved the idea of the Beast being an entity of its own--a mental, instead of merely a physical, curse. It made the whole story hit harder, make more sense. Most of all, I loved how warm and quiet their romance was. So many romance books focus on passion and desire, but I like this type of romance the best--just a story of two people growing to understand one another, carving out a little solace in an ugly world. I loved how selflessly both Adalina and the Assassin acted towards each other; it was so beautiful. The only problem I have with Beast is that it lacked clarity at points--I had a hard time understanding what was going on in the final climax (admittedly, this was partially due to the fact that I was speeding through at double speed trying to find out how the story ended, so). All in all: an epic story, 10/10 would recommend. I'm looking forward to more from this author!!"

A New Twist to a Classic Story
"For starters, I'm a sucker for Beauty and the Beast retellings. They're my kryptonite. That said, I found it refreshing to see a new take on what the curse of the beast where it manifested as an infliction of the mind rather than physical. It adds a perspective of madness that only adds to the tension between the characters. There were a few inconsistencies throughout the story that created confusion along with minor grammar mistakes. For example, we're explained to that there's Four Kingdoms and we're given their names, but towards the end, they're referred to as colors (red, white, black, blue). There's no warning to the change and ultimately, catches you off guard. The same goes for when time skips are implemented. I enjoyed the characters and thought they had a lot of potential if their complexities would've been explored further. It's an fun and quick read, so others should check it out."
