Summary

BLURB — The New Transfer At Haneul Academy, the country’s most prestigious school for the elite, perfection isn’t optional — it’s survival. Jiwoo Kang was supposed to stay invisible. A scholarship student among chaebol heirs, royal descendants, and influencer prodigies. But no one knows the truth: Jiwoo isn’t just another broke student. She’s the disowned daughter of the Kang Group — the family at the center of Korea’s most infamous corporate scandal. Then comes Rian Seo — the transfer student everyone whispers about. Too composed. Too quiet. Too dangerous. They say he was expelled from his last academy after someone ended up in the hospital — but the files were sealed. When strange notes start appearing in Jiwoo’s locker — coded messages, sketches, and warnings written in black ink — she realizes Rian isn’t the threat. He’s the warning. Because someone inside Haneul Academy knows who she really is… and they’re coming for her. But Rian’s past hides something darker — and the more Jiwoo gets close, the more she sees it: the bruises, the fear, the secrets he carries like sins. He wasn’t sent to ruin her. He was sent to protect her. Until loving her made him dangerous too. At Haneul Academy, love is forbidden — But obsession? That’s the real curriculum.

Chapter One- The Boy With the Cold Eyes

CHAPTER ONE — The Boy With the Cold Eyes

At Haneul Academy, even the air smelled expensive.

Perfume, ambition, and secrets — perfectly mixed.

Every step Jiwoo Kang took echoed through marble hallways lined with portraits of alumni who owned half the country.

She wasn’t supposed to be here.

Not really.

A scholarship student among heirs.

A ghost pretending to belong.

The morning bell rang, sharp and commanding. Students poured into the assembly hall in crisp uniforms, laughter bright but calculated. Cameras from the Academy’s social channel hovered, ready to capture the “perfect” start of term.

Jiwoo stood at the back, as always — unseen, unbothered.

Until the Headmaster spoke:

“We have a new student joining us this semester — a transfer from Daehan International Academy.”

The hall stirred like wind before a storm.

“Daehan? Isn’t that the school for chaebol heirs?”

“Heard he was expelled.”

“No — transferred quietly. Same thing.”

The murmurs broke into silence as the doors opened.

And he walked in.

Rian Seo.

Dark hair falling just enough to shadow his sharp eyes, uniform collar unbuttoned, black ring glinting faintly under the lights. He looked more like a warning than a student.

Jiwoo didn’t know why, but her chest tightened.

There was something in the way he moved — quiet, deliberate — like someone who’d spent his life being hunted.

Headmaster Jang cleared his throat.

“Mr. Seo will be in Class 3-B. Treat him with respect.”

No one clapped.

No one dared to.

As Rian stepped off the platform, he passed the front rows — every whisper slicing sharper than glass.

“Too composed.”

“Too rich to care.”

“Too dangerous.”

He didn’t flinch.

He didn’t even blink.

But when his gaze slid toward the back of the hall, it stopped — exactly on Jiwoo.

Time fractured for one breath.

She didn’t know why he looked at her like that — like he already knew her name, her secrets, the things she’d buried under her scholarship smile.

And then, he looked away.

Just like that, the moment was gone.

By lunch, the school’s gossip forum had already crashed twice.

Anon1: he’s the reason Daehan suspended their entire senior class??

Anon2: his family’s old money. Scary money.

Anon3: he’s hot tho 😳

Jiwoo scrolled once, then closed her phone. She didn’t care about Rian Seo. She couldn’t afford to.

Her only goal was to survive this semester quietly.

She was the invisible one — or so she thought.

Until she opened her locker.

And found it.

A pale blue sticky note, folded in half.

Ink scrawled in rough handwriting — not elegant like the rest of the students here.

You dropped your guard.

Jiwoo froze.

She looked around the hallway — students chatting, laughing, pretending not to stare.

Her locker was at the far end — the blind spot of the security cameras.

Only someone who knew could have left that note there.

And no one at Haneul was supposed to know her real story.

Her throat tightened as she unfolded the paper further.

At the corner, someone had drawn a small black bird — wings outstretched.

Her hands trembled.

Because years ago — before her father’s arrest, before her name was erased from the Kang Group registry — she used to draw that same bird on every notebook she owned.

Who would know that?

She turned — and her eyes caught a familiar figure outside, leaning against the courtyard railing.

Rian Seo.

Watching her.

Their eyes met for a split second.

He didn’t smile.

Didn’t move.

But she could’ve sworn his lips formed silent words she couldn’t unhear.

They know who you are.

That night, Jiwoo lay in her dorm, staring at the folded note on her nightstand.

The bird.

The handwriting.

The warning.

Her pulse wouldn’t slow.

And when she looked out her window — she saw him again.

Standing by the dorm gates.

Head tilted up.

Watching her window like a silent shadow.

Not a threat.

A warning.

And Jiwoo Kang — the girl who swore to stay invisible — just realized she’d been seen.
