Chapter 1

It was a week before Halloween. Madeline was absolutely excited. After she took a shower she got dressed. She looked into the mirror to check out her outfit for the day. She had on a cropped tank top and baggy cargo pants. She sat down at her vanity and applied her makeup. She put foundation over her face to hide her naturally red cheeks, eyeshadow over her blue eyes and blood red lipstick over her heart shaped lips. She also spent some time plucking her eyebrows to make them nice and thin. Lastly combed her long black hair into a ponytail. Just like that she was ready to go.

She trotted down the stairs to the kitchen. Her mother, father and sister Celine were already down there. All of them stopped doing what they were doing to watch Madeline get herself a glass of orange juice. She noticed their stares as she was pouring the orange juice into the glass.

“ What?” She questioned them.

“ Celine has something to ask you” Her mother answered, patting Celine on the back to encourage her.

Celine looked at her dad and her dad looked back at her with encouragement on his face as he nodded his head. Madeline put away the orange juice after she was done pouring. She turned and looked at her sister. Celine was gorgeous. She had blue eyes, gorgeous red hair and an amazing figure. She looked like a glamorous actress. Madeline always thought Celine was prettier than her. She didn't really care about it as much because looking beautiful wasn't really something she desired. But the truth is the Monroe sisters were equally gorgeous.

“Well what is it?” Madeline asked before taking a sip of her orange juice.

“ I was wondering if you could come to a Halloween party with me.” Celine offered nervously she wasn't sure of the backlash she'd receive.

Madeline snorted and said “ why would I do that.”

“ Because you love Halloween,” Celine answered, trying to convince Madeline.

“ I'll ask a better question. Why do you want me to do it?” Madeline asked, knowing Celine is up to something.

Celine was about to say something but their mom grabbed her gently by the shoulders from behind and told Madeline “ I want you to do it because you promised me you'd try and spend more time with your sister”

Madeline pressed her lips together because it was true. She never goes back on promises she makes. She was about to say something to try and dance her way out of this but the doorbell rang. She set her glass down and ran to the door, knowing who it was. She opened the door to find her two best friends Rodney and Fawn standing there. Rodney and Madeline were squealing and jumping up and down, showing their excitement for each other. She let them in and gave Fawn a gentle hug. Fawn hugged her back.

Rodney and Fawn were opposites from each other. Rodney shared the same gothic taste as Madeline. Of course he was more of a fashionista than the two of them. His outfit was a bit more dramatic. He also has a habit of judging people's outfits as soon as he sees them. Whether he tells them or not. Fawn was more shy and introverted. She loves the cottage core aesthetic and she's different from the others. But like most extroverts Rodney and Madeline found her and adopted her in their friend group. Thus there were three. Of course they had more friends outside of themselves but these three were closer than anyone else.
