PROLOG

Sam

Ten years ago

Sam sighed and closed his laptop. Luckily for him, Dean was off practicing the guitar with Bobby so he could do his plan in silence. Sam knew he was not likely to live much longer anyway unless he did something now. His body hadn’t yet shown signs of cancer but it was only a matter of time. Lately, he had experienced headaches that stung behind his eyelids. Then Sam continued as normal until a few weeks later he experienced it almost daily. Other times, he couldn’t hear what his big brother said.

It frightened him. Dean has gone through enough, Sam thought. He deserves better.

Sam stood up from his chair and put on his leather jacket. He found the keys in the drawer and found the rest of the devices he had needed over the past months. Dean didn’t know that he had searched about supernatural beings, including crossroad demons. He went out of the empty house and began to walk toward the bus stop a few meters ahead.

After half an hour the bus appeared. Sam found his place and sat down on one of the hard seats. Only an old woman around her sixties was on the bus, her frown appeared on her face. Sam looked anxiously out the window. His eyes narrowed at the street signs they were passing.

Once Sam reached his destination he walked out of the bus. To his surprise, it was almost midnight. The crossroad parted ways in three locations, an old building on his left with faded letters on it saying ‘The Crimson Bar’. On his right an old tree swaying in the wind. Sam pulled his leather jacket closer around himself, his teeth clattering against his skull.

With shivering hands, he took out the box that he had hidden in his jacket and put it down on the ground. Quickly he began to dig deep into the ground with his bare hands. Once finished he found his paper and began to chant this:

“Daemon, esto subjecto voluntati meae.” When he finished his last words Sam felt a change in the air. It cracked in his skull. However, no sounds reached his head. Unintentionally he flinched. Eyes bored into his back. A chill went down his spine. Sam never expected it to actually work. Swiftly on his feet, he faced the demon.

“Well, what do we have here?” A woman’s soft voice almost right beside him.

Sam gained back his posture and turned to look at the demon. She had black hair like the night, a darker shade of brown than himself were her eyes and milk-white skin. Her smirk making him want to flinch.

“I can’t believe it worked,” Sam said stunned.

“Your first time? Such a virgin you are. I have met people with smaller brains than yours. What do you want? Fortune? Fame?” She gestured with her hands.

Sam took a deep breath, it was still hard to believe that demons actually existed.

“I want to heal my cancer.” Stated Sam.

The demon frowned. For a short moment, her eyes turned red before they went back to their original color.

“Seriously? I came all the way here to just heal your cancer?” She counter-augmented.

Taken aback he snapped, “I am not asking you to save the world, just healing me!”

She pouted. “Fine, we seal the deal with a kiss. I will give you ten years before I will come to collect your soul.”

She closed into him and before Sam could protest he felt her lips against his own. The kiss was short but it still left him breathless.

She withdrew and said, “my name is Michelle if you will be looking for me.” Before she disappeared just as quickly as she came.
