Introduction

"Hi, I'm Caleb, and I would like to welcome you to the spire. As you know the world has taken a giant shit on us, and things are getting pretty hopeless pretty quick. I know there is a lot of confusion out there and no one seems to know what the hell is going on. So let me start with a history lesson to get you caught up." He looked around the room at the mere 17 survivors that were found during the last sweep. Some nodded, most stared into the nothingness that had become their lives. For the first time in years these people felt safe enough to let their minds wonder and remember their former lives, their family, friends, and how happy they truly were. It's true, you don't know what you have until it's gone.

"Humanity as we know it, is a lie." These words piqued the interest of everyone in the room, he now had their full attention. "We have been prisoners here for ages. That's right, this planet is not our home. Not only are we not from earth, we aren't even from this dimension. We are not beings of flesh and bone, but beings of light."

At this point most of the people in the room started rolling their eyes and began to wonder what kind of crack pot Caleb was. Jokes were being made at Caleb's expense. Caleb had heard it all before. Every time they brought in survivors he got this. Caleb sat back on his desk and waited for the one that would muster the courage to ask...

"How do you know?" A big man blurted from the back. Caleb used to answer, "How do you not?" But that never went over well.

Instead he said "I can show you." Before anyone could respond the room melted away, they were floating in the cosmos. The survivors looked at each other in disbelief. How did this happen? Where are they? Looking around for the answers, all of them noticed a planet coming into view below them. The planet was both familiar and alien at the same time. It was not earth, it was never so green.

As they descended through the atmosphere their bodies changed. The flesh melted away and showed what was underneath. A few began to panic. "Do not fear," Caleb said in a calming tone. "What you see is the true you, your soul." People held up hands before their eyes, amazed to see a light shining back at them.

"My shoulder, it doesn't hurt !" some one exclaimed.

"My ears aren't ringing anymore." Everyone's illnesses and pains were gone and they sure were excited about it. Caleb let them go on like this until they were on the surface.

"Welcome to Gaia, our original home planet."

"Original?" a feminine voice asked.

"Yes, we are on our third home planet. In this dimension and on this world we existed for millions of years. We developed and evolved into beings of pure energy and light. We were immortal."

"But what happened ?" she asked.

"Watch."
