Summary

Applicable Ideas is a practical, low-risk guide packed with diverse business and side-hustle concepts that can be started right away. It covers a range of opportunities — from sports-focused ventures to fitness micro-businesses, service-oriented ideas, talent-based gigs, digital hustles, and even quick-turnaround job options. The ebook breaks down each concept with a clear model and startup hints. Highlights include: • Sports Business — Shot Put Business: Buy a shot put, let people book sessions at R0.50 per turn, use tape measure to record distances, and showcase a top-8 record list (unique names only, best record kept) • Shot Put Annual Event: Organize a community-focused annual shot-put event needing a small team (camera, safety check, tape measure, flag placement, host) — requires a coaching certificate and space booking. • Join a Sport: Quick tip to get into strength sports like shot put and rugby. • ShotFit (Fitness) Business: Set up a home-based "ShortFit" session with a pull-up bar, charging R5 (15 min) or R10 (30 min) for up to two people, with a path to scale by adding equipment and hiring an employee (10% commission). • Weight Scale Business: Buy a weight scale, charge R2 per weigh-in, usable at home or crowded outdoor spots, with an option to resell scales. • Offering Services (Cleaning, Freelance real-life editing, Newspaper Delivery) • Use of Talent (e.g. beatboxing with humming for emotion, charging for performances). • Write a Book: Inspiring to create your own idea-book or "film-in-print" style publication. • Digital Hustle: Create a YouTube channel (monetise via ads after 1k subs), build apps with no-code tools (Google Play — one-time $25 feel), leverage free accredited online short courses for qualification and business credibility. • Job Ideas: A wide set of "walk-in" job opportunities across restaurants, retail, construction, cleaning, delivery, farms, recycling, events, and more "more job ideas" sections listing roles like car-wash attendant, tour guide, pet sitting, house-sitting, etc.

Sports Business

• SHOT PUT BUSINESS

Buy a Shot Put and have people book a session if they desire to use it. They can pay you 50 cents per turn. It would also be beneficial to have a tape measure to measure the distances they cover when pushing the shot put.

Perhaps another way to motivate them to book the sessions is to write the top 8 records, so that they will want to break them and appear on the list too. In this list, there should be eight individuals' names, meaning that no name should be written twice, no matter how many records a person breaks. Only write the person's best record.

• SHOT PUT ANNUAL EVENT

You can organize your own Shot Put annual event. This event would be beneficial to the community as it would involve those who are strong, yet less athletic, to participate in sport. Perhaps the top 8 could be posted on social media platforms as well, according to classes, should you desire to group them into classes - according to their ages.

This idea would require more than just yourself. You'd have to be five, at least. One person could hold a camera, while another checks if an athlete makes no mistake in the base when pushing the shot put. Another might have to hold a tape measure and measure the distance, while another is already where the shot will likely land, and put a small flag there for accuracy. Perhaps there could even be another person who will be hosting the event.

You would also have to be sure you have a coaching certificate in order to be allowed to host the event. This event wouldn't be free, obviously, as you would have to book and pay for the space or ground you'd be using.

• JOIN A SPORT

You could simply join a sport. If you're into strength sports, then Shot Put and Rugby could be your options.
