The Summoning
Hi - I'm a newbie, so please give (kind) feedback. Otherwise, enjoy!
Alex was your average angsty high school aged guy living out his life in Columbus. No real connections with anyone, always the lone wolf, the works. And also a huge weeb. So when he was on the way home from school and got dragged through a portal to a different world, you bet he was surprised. But, alas, he'll want to tell that story.
It all started at four o' seven in the afternoon on an ordinary Wednesday. Well, ordinary for basically everyone. As I was riding the bus home, the bus suddenly jerked to a stop. But then when I looked around, I realized that I must have been the one to stop, because everything around me was frozen in place. The guy in front of me who was eating chips obnoxiously loud? His arm was halfway up to his face and his mouth was hanging open. When I peeked out the window and saw that no cars were moving, then my suspicions were solidified. Somehow, time refused to move around me.
After about five minutes of waiting for things to return to normal, nothing had changed. Until, all of a sudden, a ghastly purple light filled the area as a swirling vortex of ripped space opened in the sky. My first thought: "Oh God, we're being invaded by aliens." After I felt a tug in my gut and a slight urge to vomit because of a surprising sense of weightlessness, I started to feel like I was floating. Looking down at the floor, though, I realized that I was. So, naturally, I went towards the space portal. After all, I'd never really felt like I belonged in this world, and if I'm getting isekai'd then I wanted to get a peaceful way to do so.
As I approached the portal, all I could think of was that I hoped that I would reincarnate somewhere I could be happier. And as soon as I crossed the threshold, everything, truly everything, melted away, leaving only the silent darkness.
