The dark night

The Lost Necklace, my first ever novel is dedicated to my parents. I am blessed to have both of you as my parents. Thank you for always believing in me and supporting me in my toughest times.

Everything seemed to be blacked out there. The street pole lights failed to illuminate the path. Even if they did, it had made no difference to the blind dog who ran with a piece of bone in his mouth. He could sense danger; he had to finally reach a safe place to eat his meal. His sniffing power was also weak, he had been like that since forever. He didn't realize that the sharp thing in his mouth wasn’t a bone.

The air was heavy with tension. The concern in his eyes was now replaced with frustration. It had been hours since he had been finding that thing, a thing on which his life depended.

The thought of upcoming events scared him more than ever and he tried to find his lost item more desperately.

It was perfect weather to walk in London, and Christe did, along with her father. She loved spending time with him. He was her inspiration, and the reason she loved walking. He would tell her about his childhood and she would make fun of his old manners.

“You know my friends and I used to collect ancient stones just like you collect jewels.” He told her.

“Well, you’re ancient too,” she remarked. He chuckled and said something but Christe was not listening to him. Her eyes were fixed at a point.

“What are you staring at?” Her father stepped closer to her.

“Is that a necklace? A dusty necklace?” she asked while running towards it.

“Damn! You have such a keen eye for jewels. I would have never noticed that.” he admired her enthusiasm.

She smiled and picked it up.

“It doesn’t mean you will pick up a random necklace. Put it back,” her father instructed. Christe smiled but before she could say something, she started to feel dizzy. Her father was yelling. The last thing she felt was that the necklace was getting hot.

Still with bite-sized chapters, huh? Not complaining, though. Just make sure you don’t call any of my episodes short from here on out, cuz I absolutely will point that out in return 🤗.
