DAS SEASON 1 - ECHO! EPISODE - 1 A New Day

Title: A New Day

The city was waking up, but Apex Das wasn’t. His alarm buzzed for the third time, and with a groan, he slapped it off. Sunlight sneaked through the blinds, painting streaks across his cluttered room — textbooks, headphones, and an old chess set his grandfather had left him.

“Another day,” he muttered, stretching, already dreading the mountain of assignments waiting for him. But beneath the grogginess, there was a spark — a quiet restlessness he couldn’t explain.

His phone pinged.

Kiran Rynex: Bro, you’re late again. Meet at the cafe in 10.

Emrys Lorian: Don’t burn the toast this time.

Apex smiled. Old habits, old friends. They’d been with him since school — Kiran, the protective fighter type, always teasing yet loyal; Emrys, the calm mediator who kept him from doing something stupid.

By the time he reached college, the campus was alive with chatter and movement. Students rushed between buildings, their laughter mingling with the distant hum of hover-vehicles. Apex’s attention, however, was drawn elsewhere — a sudden shadow flitted across his vision, and he felt it again: a strange pulse, like his heartbeat was syncing with something unseen.

He shook it off. Probably just nerves.

Then she appeared. Bloom.

She collided into him on the steps leading to the library, scattering his notes across the ground.

“Oh! I’m so sorry!” she exclaimed, crouching to help him gather the papers. Her eyes were bright, full of energy and curiosity.

“It’s… okay,” Apex stammered, slightly flustered. There was something in her smile that made the strange pulse in his chest stronger — something familiar, yet impossible.

“Looks like you need a hand more than I thought,” she teased, handing him the last page.

Kiran and Emrys watched from a distance, grinning. “Who’s the new friend?” Kiran muttered.

Apex didn’t answer. He only felt it again — the fleeting flicker of a symbol in a reflection, on a shiny metal rail nearby. It disappeared as quickly as it came.

“Nothing,” he whispered to himself, but Bloom’s gaze lingered on him for just a moment longer than necessary, as if sensing something beneath the surface.

Later, at the cafe, the trio laughed and joked, the morning sun warming the city streets. But somewhere in the bustling modern world, hidden eyes watched. Codes, legacies, and secrets stirred quietly, waiting.

And Apex Das, blissfully unaware, had just taken his first step into a world far larger than he could imagine.
