Summary

Nev always believed death was the end. He learned the truth only after dying. Dragged into an endless void between realities, he discovers that every version of himself across infinite worlds is trapped in the same cycle: suffering, death, rebirth. And something out there is pulling the strings. When Nev wakes in a new world, he carries a secret no one else can see. Threads. Patterns. Possibilities. A power that should not exist. But the cult that once killed him exists here too. Their symbol follows him across lives. Their “hero” hides behind masks of glory. And somewhere in this world, Lila—his sister in the first life—may still be alive. To protect her, he must rise. To rise, he must survive. To survive, he must break the rules of power itself. In a world of Holders, monsters, hidden gods, and forbidden experiments, Nev walks a path no one has seen before—the path of a man who refuses to accept fate. What if free will is impossible across infinite realities? Nev intends to find the answer.

The True Meaning of Life

Most people believe a life begins when the heart learns its first rhythm. Others insist it begins with choice, with purpose, with the first moment a person decides who they want to be.

They are all mistaken.

A life begins the moment someone above it decides where its thread will lie.

Behind every world, behind every breath, there is a structure. Silent. Precise. It does not ask. It does not feel. It only adjusts. If a life grows too bright, it dims it. If a soul grows too strong, it breaks it. If a story refuses to follow the path designed for it, the path is rewritten.

“Fate is not a promise. It is maintenance.”

The ones who maintain it do not call themselves gods. Gods are too small for that responsibility. These beings do not shape creation through will. They shape it through correction.

Below them are the Entities, caretakers of the framework. They ensure events occur where they should. They move unseen, patient and methodical.

Between life and death stand the Architects. They greet the fallen, reset the irregular, and send them where the system requires. They do not question the design. They only follow it.

And beneath all of this, unaware of the weight above them, live ordinary people. They struggle, dream, rise, fall. They believe their choices belong to them.

“Free will exists only until it reaches the place where threads are measured.”

Most lives stay obedient. They begin on time, end on time, and leave no questions behind.

A few don’t.

Some are born with the wrong kind of silence inside them. Some learn to see the lines meant to stay hidden. Some refuse the thread they are given.

These souls are rare. Dangerous. Unwanted.

A Defiant is not defined by strength or talent. A Defiant is simply a life that does not bow.

“One thread out of place is enough to disturb an entire world.”

Somewhere across the layers of existence, a single thread trembles. Something that should have ended has not ended. Something that should have obeyed has turned its face away.

The system notices. The Architects pause. The higher hands lean closer.

A small anomaly begins to move. A story meant to close is preparing to open.

And for the first time in a very long time, the ones above the worlds feel something close to curiosity

His Forsaken Fate

Bargara4670: I have marked the ratings down because it was obviously originally written in a foreign language and translated into English. I hope that whoever edited the second half will go back and do the same to the first half. Having said that, this was a well-thought-out plot which kept me interested enough ...
