Summary

“You shouldn’t be here,” she said quietly. “And yet,” Jungkook murmured, stepping closer, “my body reacts like it’s been waiting for you.” “Mr. Jeon—” “Don’t,” he cut in. “Say my name like that and expect restraint.” Her breath faltered. “The way you look at me… it makes my skin burn.” “Good,” he replied softly. “That heat is honesty.” “I’m not that kind of girl.” His lips curved. “That’s exactly why you undo me.” “This isn’t right.” “Neither am I,” he whispered. “So why do you lean closer every time I speak?” Silence stretched—heavy, burning. “If I touch you,” he warned, “I won’t pretend it’s gentle.” Her lips parted. “Then don’t pretend,” she whispered. “Just… don’t make me feel alone in it.” From the shadows, a voice murmured, “Careful, Jeon. Lust is how monsters fall.” “Then let me fall,” he answered. “She’s already under my skin.” Her fingers trembled against his chest. “You shouldn’t make me feel like this.” “Feel what?” His voice dropped. “Desire? Don’t lie to yourself.” “I can’t…” “You can,” he said. “Because I don’t let what I want walk away.” “Mr Jeon… please…” “Please what?” His eyes darkened. “Tell me you want this.” Her knees weakened. “Then… don’t stop?” He laughed softly. “I’ve never known restraint with you.” “I can’t think when you’re this close,” she whispered. “My heart won’t listen anymore.” “You don’t need to think,” he said. “Just feel.” “If I give in,” she whispered, “will you stay or disappear after?” He didn’t answer. ******** “I trusted you,” she said, breaking. “You touched parts of me I never meant to give.” From the dark, the voice returned. “Some truths rot when you hide them.” He said nothing. Because even as he claimed her in the shadows, even as he let her believe she was chosen— there were secrets buried deeper than desire. And when Jungkook would finally learn the truth— that he, too, had been kept in the dark, that she was never just a weakness but a key— she would already be gone.

“Before you walked into my life, my only ambition was conquest. I wanted cities to kneel, men to tremble when they heard my name. I believed power was the only thing worth chasing. But then you happened... and suddenly I wanted something I couldn’t control. And I don’t tolerate things I can’t control.”

“The world calls me ruthless. They’re not wrong. Mercy is expensive, and I don’t waste money on things that weaken me.”

“You’re always so serious... don’t you ever get tired of carrying the weight of the world? Come on, just for today—let it go. The world won’t fall apart if you smile a little.”

“Every time you looked at me like I was still human... it made me want to protect you.”

“And ruin you.”

“You think this is obsession? No. Obsession is when a man watches from a distance. I don’t watch. I take. I claim. I protect what is mine - even if I have to burn the world down to keep it.”

“I didn’t fall for his darkness. I fell for the way he softened when he thought no one was watching. I convinced myself that meant something. I didn’t realize I was loving a version of him that only existed for me.”

“Some people fight wars with guns. Others fight them by standing in the right place at the right time... and waiting.”

“We grew up together. Shared secrets. Dreams. Promises we thought were unbreakable.”

“No one told us that power would demand we choose between love and survival.”

“Loving her silently felt noble once.”

“Now it feels like a mistake that never stopped breathing.”

“I was not born to be soft. I was born into a bloodline that survives by eliminating weakness. And until I take my rightful throne... my face belongs to no man.”

“You expected something softer, didn’t you?”

“That’s the problem with men like you... you confuse silence with weakness.”

“I’ve watched your kind my entire life—taking, demanding, believing the world owes you obedience.”

“But I don’t give men what they expect.”

“I give them endings.”

“You mistake my silence for mercy. It’s not. It’s patience... the kind that lets me decide exactly how and when you fall apart.”

“She was just my responsibility... someone I was meant to protect, nothing more — that’s what I told myself. But now when I look at her, it doesn’t feel like duty anymore. Maybe for her it meant nothing... just a moment. It was supposed to be the same for me... but with her, it isn’t — and that’s what makes it dangerous.”

“It was always supposed to be you... just you. We built dreams like they were real, like we’d actually get that quiet life everyone else seems to have. So tell me... why did it have to be you out of everyone... the one I had to lose?”
