Prologue

It was nighttime as the crescent moon hovered over the castle. And despite it being far away in space, the brightness of the moon made the castle almost entirely visible. The inside of the castle wasn’t so visible by comparison. There were a few lit torches wedged into the hall walls. But aside from that, the entire place was dim from inside.

The young princess was in her bed fast asleep. But by the look and sound of it, she was not in a good place, mentally. She was tossing, turning, and moaning as if she were in pain.

But luckily for her, a maid immediately came to her side. “Princess Vera?” She then softly yelled, “Princess Vera, awake with thee!” Immediately then, the young princess awoke and rose right off of her pillow before gasping. The maid then comforted the young princess, caressing her right shoulder and back.

The young princess began breathing repeatedly. That, in which, caught the ears of the queen herself, as she immediately entered the room. What illness be upon my daughter?”

“No illness, my dear queen,” the maid clarified, “the princess had only fallen to a terrible dream.”

“I commend thee for pulling my daughter out of her own subconscious,” the queen announced before adding, “I now wish for her to remain in my presence, away with thee.”

kitkatbar29: So this first book in this series I liked. A good plot that flowed well for the most part with some twists along the way, good well developed characters... there are a few technical mistakes, but nothing to harsh. I must say toward the end of the book there were some issues with like a quick change ...

hazel_walker: Okay, this chapter was WILD 😭 The whole werewolf system, the FBIDWC, the discrimination, and the fact that Sylvia has been keeping Collin and Dylan’s situation a secret all came together so well.
