Prologue

Alpha Lawrence and Luna Meredith of the Crescent Ridge Pack stood side by side, gazing out over the moonflower fields beyond their pack estate. Below, their twin daughters—Alice and Leah—ran through the tall glowing blooms… laughter rising on the night wind beneath the silver glow of the twin moons.

Just like the night they were born.

Lawrence broke the quiet. “A letter came today. From the Half-Moon Pack.”

Meredith’s hand stilled against his arm. “What do they want?”

“An alliance,” he said quietly. “A marriage alliance.” His voice lowered even more, as if the words themselves carried weight. “Their son, Lars… the future Alpha. They wish to match him with one of our girls.”

Meredith stared at their daughters below. “But… which one?” she asked softly. “They both have the makings of a future Luna.”

Lawrence watched the girls spin beneath the moonlight, their white-gold hair catching the starlight like their mother’s. “Leah is headstrong, fair, but steady.” he said. “Alice is Sweet, Calm, and Gentle.” He paused, his thoughts racing.

“Alice is the eldest. And her qualities… they’re like yours. She was born to be Luna.”

Meredith didn’t answer. A small smile tugged at her lips. Her gaze never left the two small figures below—laughing, still dancing. Beyond.

Unaware of the future being written above them, Alice and Leah lay on their backs in the sprigs of flowers around them, fingers entwined between. Their matching hair fanned across the pillow of grass, tangled together by the wind like threads of a shared soul.

The moons bathed their faces in silver.

“If Veluna, the moon goddess, ever tries to pull us apart,” Leah whispered, her voice fierce with a seriousness beyond her years, “we’ll just run faster.”

“Together,” Alice giggled.

“For always.”

“Even if we have mates?” Alice asked.

“Even then.”

Leah sat up, ice-blue eyes sharp and certain. “Sisters first. Always.”

Alice nodded. “Always.”

They turned toward each other, arms wrapping tight, foreheads touching—holding fast to a promise neither yet knew would be tested.

Above them, the moons glowed brighter.

As if somewhere… someone knew.
