Getting inside the head of a character we don’t usually get to follow so closely added so much emotional depth and tension to the story. The perspective shift makes everything feel more intimate and layered. Moments that could have felt familiar instead felt new, surprising, and often quietly heartbreaking or funny in the best way. The author uses this POV to challenge expectations, letting the reader see the story from angles that most romantasy books never explore. It’s clever, engaging, and emotionally resonant, and it shows, even early on, the author’s instinct for storytelling and character work. This book stands out not because it follows the genre’s rules, but because it bends them in such an intentional way. Five stars for originality, heart, and for reminding me why I love this author’s work so much. Even if its it her early work I some how love it more."
