Short review on the first chapter
"Really good first chapter. The Smokey Crater idea is interesting, and the quake scene pulls you in fast. The little creature at the end is a great hook, and the last line made me want to keep reading. Just needs a quick edit for spelling and grammar to make it smoother."
Has much potential
"The plot is interesting, and makes this book worth sticking with. Jack and Mike are an amusing, interesting bunch, and Blaze has a lot of personality for a bird(no spoilers). However, there are a good amount of grammar errors, but with a good proofread for grammar issues, this book will become more compelling than it already is."
Strong Concept with Great Potential
"I really like the concept of the mysterious crater and the little fire creature — that part definitely caught my attention and makes me curious about what will happen next. One thing you might want to work on is pacing and grammar. Some scenes move very quickly, especially when Jack finds the creature, and slowing down certain moments could build more tension and emotion. I’d also suggest revising dialogue formatting and reducing repetition like “said Jack” to make it flow more naturally. The idea has strong potential — with some editing and deeper emotional development, this could become a really engaging story!"
I appreciate the POV callouts
"This is a very fun and quick read. For an ESL book, I found little issue with the grammar. I was having too much fun reading. The POV callouts were really helpful. It was nice to know when the tone and perspective was changing. I could almost get ready for it."
