Chapter 1
Being a member of Fairy Tail for almost ten years, you could say Lucy is more than comfortable with her guild and guildmates shenanigans.All the brawls, pranks, drunkenness. She loved everything about the guild.
She smiled as she watched Natsu chase Lisanna with Happy right behind him. Gray and Juvia were nowhere to be seen, Erza and Jellal were sharing, what Lucy assumed to be, strawberry cake, Mira was behind the bar talking with Laxus, who looked like a high schooler staring at their crush from afar.
Lucy sighed and went back to her book. Normally she would talk with Levy, but she was on a date with Gajeel at the moment. Now that she thought about it, she was quite lonely. The only real interaction with people she had was when Team Natsu went on a mission. And that was getting rare in itself, which meant she had to solo missions if she wanted to keep her place.
Lucy grumbled as she got up and closed her book. Reluctantly, she went to the mission board and began looking through the available missions. She found one that was pretty simple and not far away. Plus, the reward was enough to cover her rent for the month. She grabbed the mission and went to Mira.
Just as she was about to tell Mira her plan to go solo again, the guild doors opened quietly. The guild went silent and Lucy turned to see who could possibly make the guild go quiet. She had to hold back a gasp.
The guy was about as tall as Natsu, had jet black hair that ended just below his ears, dark purple eyes, and a menacing stare. He wore a black button up, sleeves rolled up 3/4, black skinny jeans with rips at the thighs, and black boots. He had a jagged scar across his neck and bruises on his arms.
He gently closed the doors behind him and walked up to Makarov. “Your mission is done.” He said coldly as he tossed a sack of money onto the counter next to the guildmaster.
Makarov nodded and opened his mouth to say something but was cut off by Laxus.
“Good Lord dude, what the fuck happened to you?” Laxus asked in the rare genuinely caring tone he only showed to Mira.
“The mission Boss sent me on. That’s what fucking happened.” The guy hissed before noticing the mission Lucy had in her hands. “If you plan on going solo for that, I highly do not recommend. Take at least another person.”
Lucy just stared at him. She was entranced. He looked scary but also cute. She watched as he talked with Makarov.
“So, how was the mission?” Makarov asked as Mira handed the guy a glass of clear liquid.
“Awful. Terrible. It was not what you told me. It was a trap.” The guy said as he carefully drank the liquid Mira gave him.
Makarov sighed. “Listen boy. It required a strong mage and you were it.”
“Obviously they knew that. So now, I have another demon inside my head.”
“Another?”
“Oh, I didn’t tell you? Yea, you already knew I had one, but now I have two.” He said sarcastically.
“What happened?”
“Got weak and got possessed. Made a pact and here we are.” He shrugged as he handed the glass back to Mira. He then turned his attention to Lucy. “So, blondie, you gonna go solo or you gonna find someone to go with you?”
Lucy got a little flustered and began stuttering an answer. This caused the guy to raise a brow. He was about to respond when Mira chirped in.
“Why don’t you go with her, Onyx?” Mira said with a smirk.
Onyx tch’d at her as he gently took the mission from Lucy’s hand and looked over it. “It’s not too bad. But, I also don’t know how you feel about going on a mission with someone you don’t know.” Onyx said as he handed the paper back to Lucy.
Lucy hesitated but shook her head. “I’ll find someone I know. No offense! But I don’t feel comfortable with someone I just met.”
Onyx shrugged. “That’s your choice. If you’re uncomfortable, I understand. Just be careful.” Onyx told her as he went upstairs and to the infirmary.
Mira hit Lucy on the head once he was out of sight. “You nutbrain! You like him. You two would be cute together! Besides, I’ve seen how depressed you’ve looked today and I think he would be a great addition to your smol circle of peeps.”
Lucy rolled her eyes. “He’s scary but also nice? Like, he doesn’t even know me and here he is offering to go on a mission with me that I can clearly handle myself.”
Mira giggled and shook her head as Lucy went to find a teammate. “Those two will be together. I know it.”
Laxus nodded. “I give it not even a month.”
Mira smirked. “I give it two weeks.”
“You’re on.” Laxus smirked and shook her hand.
Onyx came back a few minutes later and sat next to Laxus. His bruises were gone but the scar was still there. Mira glanced at Lucy, who was quietly walking up behind Onyx with the mission paper in hand.
Lucy gently tapped his shoulder. Onyx stiffened but turned around and relaxed a little. “Yes blondie?” He asked quietly, which shocked Mira a little bit.
“Um...I was wondering if you’d go on this mission with me. Nobody else will and I need to pay rent soon.” Lucy explained quietly.
Onyx nodded. “Sure. I’ll meet you outside the guild in a bit.” He then stood and left the guild.
Lucy watched him leave before leaving herself to get ready. As she was leaving, Erza pulled her aside.
“Be careful with him. He’s dangerous.” Erza warned.
Lucy looked confused but nodded and continued outside.
