Part 1

The Telephone

Ethan was an ordinary 12-year-old boy who loved old gadgets. One rainy afternoon, while exploring his grandmother’s attic, he found an old rotary telephone covered in dust. Its black surface gleamed oddly, and something about it felt
 alive.

Curious, he plugged it into the wall downstairs. The moment he did, the phone rang. Ethan hesitated, then picked up.

“Hello?” he said.

A crackling, whispery voice replied, “Ethan
 come play with me.”

He frowned. “Who is this?”

The line went dead. Thinking it was a prank, Ethan shrugged and set the phone aside. But the next day, it rang again. Every time he picked up, the same voice whispered his name, telling him things no one else could know: secrets from his room, things he’d never told anyone, even the small scar on his knee from last summer.

Then, the messages grew darker.

“Ethan
don’t tell anyone about me. They can’t know.”“Ethan
 it’s lonely here. Stay
 stay with me.”“Ethan
your parents don’t care. Come to me.”

One night, the whispers became frantic.

“Ethan
 the phone
it’s not mine anymore. I’m trapped
 help me
”

Ethan froze. The voice
it was familiar. It was him, but distorted, twisted. He realized, in a sick twist of dread, that the voice on the line was a future version of himself. The boy screamed and tried to throw the phone across the room, but it was too late.

From the rotary’s mouthpiece, hands began to emerge—pale, thin, clawed hands pulling at him. Ethan stumbled backward, but the hands grabbed his ankle. The phone dragged him closer, and the whispering grew louder, chanting his name like a curse.

The next morning, his parents found the phone on the floor, silent. Ethan was gone. No trace of him remained except for a faint, trembling voice that sometimes called from the receiver, whispering, “Don’t pick me up
 don’t
 pick
 me
 up
”

Years later, a child wandering the attic might still hear a faint, desperate voice coming from that old black telephone, waiting for the next hand to answer.

If you want, I can also make a shorter, ultra-creepy version perfect for telling around a campfire—it’ll hit fast and leave people shivering. Do you want me to do that?
