Chapter 1: The Monsters Arise
The Monsters Arise
With a loud rumble, the Earth shook, so violently that the ground quaked and buildings trembled. The sky was a deep crimson red, and thick clouds of smoke billowed, obscuring the natural light. The screams of terrified people echoed and they were soon cut off by sounds of explosions and cracks of devastating firepower. In the middle of it all, giant monsters, nightmarish creatures with inhuman strength and unearthly appearance, emerged. They wreaked havoc, destroying everything in their path and leaving death and destruction in their wake.
Samantha, a 21-year-old struggling university student, had been out late when the chaos began. She ran, her mind spinning, every thought centered on survival. She longed to find safety, places to hide, shelter from the riveting disasters that seemed to have taken control of their once peaceful world.
But it wasn’t just the monsters. Samantha had noticed a change in people too. They seemed to be just as desperate and hungry for violence. What had once been a law-abiding society now seemed to be overrun by criminals and gangsters. Fights and riots filled the streets, giving Samantha more reason to run and keep running.
Seemingly out of nowhere, a group of survivors found each other. Skye was a no-nonsense former soldier, while Judy was a young, rebellious teenager. Jack was a mechanic; Maria an experienced doctor. Together they sought to survive the odds and keep each other alive, even during the most difficult of circumstances. Together, they must find the strength to persevere, no matter what.
No one knew exactly how long the monsters had been in their world or just when the nightmare would come to an end. All they could do was survive, and hope that one day the darkness would fade and their world would be restored.
