Chapter 1: The Final Chapter
Han Jiwoo had read “Chronicles of the Fallen Star” exactly forty-seven times.
She knew every plot twist, every character death, every moment of betrayal. The web novel had been her companion through three years of a soul-crushing office job, late-night subway rides, and the crushing loneliness of her one-room apartment in Seoul. While her college friends married and climbed corporate ladders, Jiwoo lived for the daily chapter updates, for the tragic protagonist Kang Yeonho who fought gods and monsters to save a world that never loved him back.
Today, the final chapter posted at midnight.
She read it on her phone while walking home from the convenience store, instant ramen and energy drinks in her plastic bag. The author, writing under the name “Eternal_Scribe,” had promised a happy ending. Three thousand chapters, and finally, Yeonho would rest.
But as Jiwoo scrolled to the last line, her heart sank.
“And so, Kang Yeonho closed his eyes for the final time, alone in the ruins of the world he saved. The prophecy was complete. The star had fallen.”
“No,” she whispered. “No, no, no—”
Her phone slipped from her hands. She reached for it, stepping off the curb without looking. Headlights. A horn. The screech of brakes.
Then nothing.
When Jiwoo opened her eyes, she was lying in silk sheets that cost more than her monthly rent.
She sat up, heart hammering. This wasn’t her apartment. The room was enormous, decorated in the ornate style of the Goryeo nobility—exactly like the descriptions from chapters 1-47, when Yeonho was still living in his family’s manor before the Cataclysm struck.
A maid rushed in. “My lady! You’re finally awake! The young master has been so worried—”
Jiwoo’s hands flew to her face. Smooth skin. Delicate features. She stumbled to the bronze mirror and gasped.
She was looking at Lady Ha Seoyeon—Kang Yeonho’s childhood friend and the story’s first major character death. The one who died in chapter 52, spurring Yeonho down his dark path.
A translucent blue screen materialized before her eyes:

She knew every secret, every hidden piece, every mistake the characters made.
A slow smile crossed her face. “Eternal_Scribe... I’m rewriting your ending.”
