The Hermit Kingdom

"Shedding light on a culture I'll admit I don't know a lot about, the Hermit Kingdom gives us a glimpse into North Korea and what one families views on their leader are. It's an interesting read, it moves at a good pace, and keeps you wondering where the story is headed next. Haneul and his children are likable characters, even when some of the decisions they've made are not necessarily on the up and up. The story moves through time unevenly, jumping from past to present and then back, which I found a little unnecessary for the overall telling of the story, but a unique idea. It feels like the story could be fleshed out more, Milton could make it longer if he wanted to. A good read though."
