Chapter 1
“Hudair, looks like you’re going to have a tough duty every day, waking her up,”
Rashna said, a mischievous sparkle in her eyes.
“Yes, Bhabhi, I can tell,” Hudair’s deep voice echoed through the room. “Madam sleeps quite soundly.”
Maah Gul quickly turned her head, following the sound, and saw him sitting on the sofa—white shalwar kameez, one leg crossed over the other, his eyes fixed entirely on her. She felt a flutter of embarrassment, hastily wrapping her dupatta around herself, though the pink flush of shyness was clearly visible in the light.
“Devar ji, it’s been less than a day since my Devarani arrived. How do you know this?” Rashna asked, hands on her waist, peering at him with her small, sharp eyes.
The other girls were also drawn to the scene, but Hudair’s gaze remained locked on Maah Gul.
“Madam, even finished her sleep in the car,” he said, a hint of irritation in his voice, though a quiet humor lingered beneath it.
“Really, Maah Gul?” Rashna Surprised.
Maah Gul nodded, her cheeks playing with the colors of both embarrassment and shyness.
“By the way, Hudair, how did you wake her?” Rashna teased again.
“You’ll have to ask your Devarani for that,” he said, shrugging, and walked out of the room. Behind him, the sound of everyone laughing echoed, and Maah Gul’s cheek pressed against her slowly lowering neck.
“Well, go on then, Devarani,” Rashna asked, moving closer, her voice full of playful mischief.
“Bhabhi!” Maah Gul protested, running toward the washroom. Laughter erupted behind her, and in her embarrassment, there was an undeniable sweetness.
