A Girl in a Foreign Land

In a foreign land she had never imagined living in, there was an ordinary girl trying to survive.

No family, no place to return to.

All she had was a suitcase and a fragile hope that she could keep going.

She went from place to place, submitting applications, holding each letter as if it were the last piece of her dignity. No one accepted her.

Not yet.

Until one day.

She sat quietly on a park bench, autumn leaves falling softly onto her shoulders. In the middle of the silence, a man watched her from afar.

Then, without warning, he walked over and sat beside her.

" You look tired," he said gently. "Are you looking for a job?"

For some reason, that simple question made her tremble. It felt as if the same words had been thrown at her again and again- until she was exhausted.

Liora flinched slightly.

"Um... yes," she replied softly. " I'm looking for a job."

The man extended his hand. " I'm Damien."

Liora hesitated for a moment before taking it, her fingers trembling.

"I'm Liora."

They began to talk.

there was laughter.

there were smiles.

For a moment, the park seemed to belong only to their story.

Then Damien took a slow breath, releasing it quietly. Listening to Liora's life felt like opening a door he had kept closer for a long time. Gratitude.

Liora noticed the exhaustion in his eyes.

" You look tired too," she said gently. "Was your day difficult?"

Damien started ahead, his expression calm and distant.

"Yes," he replied. ''Sometimes, there are many things I can't control."

Liora fell silent, as if she understood what he meant.

Before she realized it, the sky had grown darker.

She stood up slowly. Her legs were sore from walking all day, searching for work.

"Um... Damien," she said softly. "I think I should go home now. It was nice meeting you."

Damien froze.

It felt as if he didn't want the day to end.

For the first time in a long while, he had met someone who spoke to him without asking for anything in return.

A little awkwardly, he said, " Liora... before you leave, I want to tell you something."

She looked at him in surprise.

"If you're willing," he continued,

"You can work at my house as an assistant. I live alone, and I don't have time to take care of everything."

Liora stood still. Not because she was afraid, but because she felt relieved.

The papers in her bag suddenly felt meaningless. Today, she had received a job she never expected.

A house assistant. It sounded strangely familiar.

Without hesitation, she reached for his hand.

"Thank you for giving me this opportunity," she said sincerely.

"I'll do my best." She smiled as if Damien had become her last hope.

A few days later...

She stood in front of Damien's house. Yes, Damien- the man who had offered her a job.

The house was large, cold, and full of secrets. She worked there as a house assistant. She lived inside.

Quietly, she began to learn about this new world- a world that slowly made her forget that she had once come to this country just to survive.
