Poly-trans-formation

The multiverse did not tear open.

It whimpered.

A glittery, questionably canon portal spiraled above the Mushroom Kingdom, showering pink sparkles like it had a sponsorship deal with chaos. From it descended Optimus Prime landing in a field of perfectly aesthetic flowers.

“I sense… a power-up unlike any other,” he rumbled, voice shaking the warp pipes.

A distant “Wahoo!” pierced the air.

Out of a pipe popped Mario — mustache immaculate, overalls freshly pressed, radiating short-king confidence.

They locked eyes.

Well.

Optics and… plumber.

“Hello-a big shiny truck man,” Mario said, tilting his cap with reckless charm.

Optimus placed a servo over his spark chamber, which audibly pinged like it had just collected 100 coins. “I have battled Megatron across galaxies… yet never have I encountered such… compact bravery.”

Mario giggled. Giggled.

“It’s-a not about the size of the kart,” he said softly. “It’s-a how you drift.”

The ground trembled.

Not from Optimus.

From the tension.

Optimus slowly knelt, each movement overly dramatic, metal glinting in the sun like a mech written by someone who discovered romance yesterday. “Your mustache… it is a symbol of resilience.”

Mario twirled it. “You like-a the ‘stache?”

“It is… magnificent.”

A nearby Goomba fainted.

Suddenly, a red blur screeched into the clearing — Lighting McQueen , paint shimmering with competitive jealousy.

“Ka-chow??” Lightning gasped. “Prime, who’s the short guy with the hat??”

Mario turned dramatically. “Mamma mia. It’s-a the sentient ketchup bottle.”

Lightning’s engine revved indignantly. “I’ve got horsepower and emotional depth!”

Optimus looked between them, optics flickering like a soap opera cliffhanger. “My spark… is experiencing cross-franchise confusion.”

Mario stepped closer to Optimus, placing a gloved hand gently against his metal plating. “You don’t-a need horsepower,” he whispered. “You need heart power.”

Lightning’s radio turned on unprompted, blasting dramatic Latin choir music.

“Oh yeah?” Lightning shot back. “Can you do a 0 to 60 in 3.2 seconds?”

Mario leaned in close to Optimus’s towering frame. “I can-a jump higher than your standards.”

The wind shrieked in narrative discomfort.

Optimus’s voice dropped to an unnecessarily intimate octave. “Perhaps… my spark is large enough… for both of you.”

Silence.

Even Bowser paused mid-kidnapping somewhere off-screen.

Lightning’s headlights dilated. “You mean… a poly-trans-formation?”

Mario blushed so hard he briefly gained a Fire Flower effect.

Optimus transformed slowly — too slowly — into truck mode, trailer opening with the subtlety of a romance novel written at 3 a.m.

“Enter my trailer,” he declared solemnly. “There is room within… for plumbing and pistons alike.”

Lightning’s tires squealed.

Mario adjusted his hat with trembling determination.

“Let’s-a roll out… together.”

They climbed in.

The trailer door shut with a dramatic metallic clang that echoed across intellectual property law.

From inside came:

“Ka-chow!”

“Wahoo!”

“…Autobots.”

A single golden coin rolled out from beneath the trailer.

The multiverse did not recover.

And somewhere, in a boardroom no one can legally name, a lawyer felt a sudden, unexplained chill.
