Chapter 1

Rain poured down on his grandfather’s grave. Stormy clouds covered the sky and the sound of lightning could be heard in the distance. It was a solemn moment. His chest was tight and he couldn't even breathe. Tears wouldn't come even though he was sad. His grandfather was his only relative. Now he was alone.

Some heroes are great in the eyes of many and people sing them praises for generations and centuries but some heroes are great in the eyes of one and for him, his grandfather was his number one hero.

An old woman dressed in black with a black umbrella approached him. Her grey streaked brunette hair held back in a sleek ponytail. She carried a wooden box under her arm and it had carvings of flowers and leaves.

“ Your grandfather lived a full life,” she said.

He didn't respond after all he was in no mood for small talk. All he could manage in that moment was to nod his head.

“ He wanted me to hand this to you after he passed away,” said the old woman while handing him the box and walking away.

He after a while looked around for suitable shelter so he could take a peek in the box. He ran and hid under the eaves of a building nearby. Opening the box he saw a letter and under the letter something wrapped in a grey cloth. He first took out the letter that was addressed to him.

My dearest grandson,

I remember when you were young. How everything excited you. When you took your first steps. When you first called me grandpa. Don't miss me too much.

Since I'm gone I must tell you now that I've lived a very different life from what you think. Everybody has their own secret and I wanted to keep mine until now. I never wanted to complicate your life. I wanted you to feel like everybody else. It's sad we had to part ways but I can promise you a new world, a new beginning. Have fun and be happy!

Grandpa

He then reached in the box and unwrapped what looked like a piece of paper but written on it was what looked like some hieroglyphics. Suddenly his vision went black. There was a strange ringing sound in his ears and he couldn't tell what it was until he opened his eyes to a series of screams in his surroundings. Before him was a very strange scene. He was in a strange building with a lot of musical instruments, some looking somewhat like cymbals that cluttered and clanged to the floor. Some strange creatures that look like giant balls but with four limbs stretched out right below the somewhat flat, long, thin dog-like ears running around, jumping and biting what seemed to be a group of servants. They looked like some form of mutated dogs. These creatures that are known to be called looglies are extremely hideous and have sharp teeth as well as thick grey fur. They came rushing through the door of the building. The building was elaborate, the walls mostly made of glass with an intricate metal structure that had a golden sheen.

He couldn't help but cry out in fright because of what was in front of him.

“Is this real?” he whispered under his breath in fright.

The servants in the room, a few who were maids dressed in maid outfits, assisted the butlers and fought off these extremely ferocious things. During the process one of the looglies noticed him and decided to pounce with its mouth open ready to bite. He jumped back in horror as the feral creature bit into his arm and he fell on his back to the ground.

“Lord Zaine Caerulos!” a maid cried out. It was a petite blonde with sky blue eyes and short blonde hair that curled outwards at her chin. She came just in time before the looglie became even more feral and sliced it off his arm. It screamed in pain before it died and the maid stood in front of him to fend off any other looglie that would dare to attack.

He stayed on the ground for a moment panting frantically. He couldn't even understand what was going on. First he was at the book museum with Warren and professor Roots. Now he was in some unknown place in a strange building with a lot of strange musical instruments he had never seen before. Somehow the servants had managed to fend off those vicious furry creatures and closed the door. After the initial shock was over he could feel pain well up in his arm where the looglie had bitten him.

“Do you need my help to bandage your arm?” the maid said.

“Yes, thank you," he replied. She frowned at him in response to his reply but quickly changed her facial expression to a forced cold smile. She seemed to not like him. He decided however to ignore that. When they are alone he'll ask her where exactly this is. They moved to a separate room after which he got seated. She quickly ripped the long sleeve shirt he was wearing to expose the bite on his right arm.

“ I won't get rabies will I?” he said jokingly.

“Rabies?" she asked questioningly.

“What is that?” not knowing what to say he could only look confused and replied.

“What am I saying?” with a nervous laugh under his breath.

“Lord Zaine Caerulos, you are acting strange,” she said.

It was only then he realized what had happened. He got sucked through the portal and transmigrated into someone else's body. He had no idea where his real body was or if he could even go back to the original world. His arm didn't even look like his and he felt strangely taller.

“Lord Zaine Caerulos?”

“Yes.”

“I'll get some medicine and a bandage,” She said before walking off.

What am I going to do? He thought. He had transmigrated into the body of a person who was completely different from him. To make matters worse he didn't even have any of the host's previous memories so there was no way he could act exactly like him. The maid was already in such a short time suspecting him. He had just transmigrated here and didn't even know any of the rules of this society. If he wanted to mingle with any of the other people here it would be an easy giveaway he was an impostor. From what he noticed the original host seemed to have a different personality from him. He needed to come up with a good reason as to why he suddenly had a personality change. From now on he will only consider himself to be Lord Zaine Caerulos.

The maid had managed to return with a first aid kit. She dressed and bandaged the wound. Afraid of arousing more suspicion Lord Zaine Caerulos didn't bother to ask her any more questions or even if more medical treatment was necessary. In this world it seemed like rabies did not exist and maybe even a lot of other diseases from earth did not exist here.

They ended up getting in a car where they were chauffeured to Caerulos’s family mansion. It was a large white mansion with a black roof. The well kept lawn had two statues of dragons about ten feet tall made out of some sort of black stone in the front lawn on either side of the driveway. The place seemed a bit gloomy and the weather was temperate.

After entering the mansion Lord Zaine  Caerulos was met by a slim old man. The old man had streaks of grey in his black hair and long beard. He held a black cane that had dragon patterns carved into it. He seemed stern and stared as they entered with his mesmerizing blue eyes that were lighter at the center but became deeper and darker at the edge of his iris. His eyes gave him a very striking appearance and an intense edge.

“Why are you just standing there staring?” he said. There was a gentlemanly feel to him but at the same time a feel of authority.

“It's been a long day,” said Lord Zaine Caerulos lifting his injured arm slightly for display.

“I see it's just a small injury but did you get to meet with Lord Shenlon Saturn at the musical learning center?”

“He was not available and there was also a sudden attack of monsters.”

“You have to be more dedicated to making friends with him. Lord Shenlon Saturn is the only Lord with seven mana veins and has the ability to bring about the golden age. If you want to have a place in high society in the future you have to have the right connections”

“Yes. I'll make the effort to have a better relationship with him” replied Lord Zaine Caerulos shakily.

“May, get in my office.” he added coldly. It seemed the name of the blonde maid that accompanied Lord Zaine Caerulos was called May.

“Yes, family head,” she replied with a small bow of the head and followed closely behind him as he headed down a hall and entered the very last room at the end of it. Out of curiosity if they could be discussing him Lord Zaine Caerulos slowly approached the door. He leaned forward in order to hear what they were talking about but could not hear a thing. For a while he stayed at the door but before he could leave a voice behind him said.

“What are you doing eavesdropping!?”

Lord Zaine Caerulos slowly turned around. He was caught red-handed and didn't know how to react. In front of him was a man that looked similar to the family head, only younger and a bit stockier. He also had a rounder face.

“Don't you know how rude it is to eavesdrop on the family head in his study. That's against the family rules”

At that moment both the family head and the maid reemerged from the study.

“Why are you two standing here in front of the study?” questioned the family head.

“ I actually have something I wanted to speak with the family about.”

“ Let's sit in the living room.”

They all got seated on the couch and placed their attention on Lord Zaine Caerulos.

“I'm not sure what happened but I seem to have amnesia. There are some things and people I can't seem to remember.” said Lord Zaine Caerulos.

“When did this begin?” asked the Caerulos family head.

“I believe it was just this afternoon when I was attacked. For some reason my memories have become fragmented.”

“That is a serious concern. Bertha!” He called after which an old maid with dark brown hair appeared. She had her head slightly lowered.

“Yes, family head I am at your service.”

“Get the family doctor for an examination.”

Sure enough as a wealthy noble family the Caerulos family had their own personal doctor. The doctor came and did a small check up but apart from the bite marks on his arm could not find anything amiss with Lord Zaine Caerulos. He prescribed some more medication for the bite marks, then added that his amnesia could be magic related and as such needed further investigation.

“Start an investigation into the random looglie attack at The Musical Learning Center,” stated the Caerulos's family head to a male servant that was nearby.

“May I have you guys name?” Said Lord Zaine Caerulos suddenly.

“You've even forgotten our names? It's Lord Gilbert Caerulos and your father,” said the younger stockier version of the family head.

“And I am Lord Rizon Caerulos, the head of the family.”

“How many people are in our family?”

“It's only us. We also have the slaves under us but slaves are only allowed to have a first name not a last name,” replied Lord Rizon Caerulos.

“Can you tell me more about how things work in this country or world?”

“This is the world of Urathum and you are in the empire of Kirhath. You'll need to go to the national library so that you can read up on some basic history. This can probably help with your amnesia, and also bring May along so she can assist you,” said Lord Rizon Caerulos.

“Then we'll head over first!” replied Lord Zaine Caerulos.
