Chapter 1: Her Dark Past +1
On a chilly morning, Joy woke up as usual and did her usual tasks: going to shower, brushing her teeth, and taking breakfast 🍳. She was almost 8 years old when her father abandoned her and her family. She had an older brother (Gabriel), almost 13 years old. She grew up in a family where her parents never had any disagreements, a peaceful, loving family that everyone admired.
One day, her father (Hudson) said that he had a trip to visit his parents back in the village and he wouldn’t take long for him to come back. So they wished him a safe journey, and before leaving, her father gave each of them a gentle kiss on the forehead. The house that once echoed with laughter now felt unbearably quiet. Even the ticking clock sounded louder than before.
It took months, still waiting for him to come back home since they missed him so much. The father never called ever since he left. One day her mother (Alice) decided to call just to check up on him, and the news left her paralyzed for some time.GRANDMA (her husband’s mother): Your husband is already engaged to another woman, and she’s better than you, so stop disturbing my son with your calls; he doesn’t want to see or hear from you.
The news was a real blow to the point that her mother was admitted to the hospital because she couldn’t handle it. Alice had to lie to Gabriel and Joy, telling them that it’s normal to get sick and that she will be fine. They all thought it made sense, but her brother, Gabriel, understood everything. It took months for Joy to understand, and she had to accept the harsh truth. So the mother had to now struggle on her own to a point where she had to send her children to live with her parents (Alice’s parents) where Joy’s nightmare started.
Joy was young when her two aunts decided to make her childhood unforgettable. What happened in that house stole her innocence. Nights became something she feared. This continued for almost a year whet Joy at her young age, she began wishing she could disappear, but she gave up cause she couldn’t speak up. Every time she tried to speak up, she was met with threats from her aunts, and at the same time, she also considered her mother, and she decided to keep the trauma with her. The trauma left her almost autistic since she was quiet ever since.
