Summary

We stared at each other for a few moments, our breathing lulled. The air was silent and night was cold, but we were both burning hot from being so close to each other. My heart was racing in my chest and my mouth was completely dry. We were only a few centimeters apart and I could feel his warm breath on my skin, the scent of his cologne mingling with my perfume. Chan's eyes glued to my lips. His eyes were half closed and he leaned forward. His voice was so quiet, I barely heard it, "Can I ki-" ♥️ Three years into JYP, Kim Nora survives chaos as the Assistant Manager's assistant-capable, stubborn, and allergic to nonsense. With an incompetent boss, a ride-or-die best friend, and Stray Kids orbiting her days, one missed Americano sparks a domino effect everyone sees but her. Enter Bang Chan: leader, producer, problem. Workplace mishaps turn into late nights, sharp banter, and feelings she absolutely did not schedule at the worst possible time ever. ♥️ 💖You can read this even if you aren't a part of the fandom.💖

CHAPTER 1 : Decisions

“I-I loose my job.” - Changbin

Often in life we have to make decisions.

Hard decisions.

Decisions that could shape the rest of your life.

I stared back at the assistant manager, Seo Yoon, who looked at me expectantly. We sat in her office, and the quiet ticking of the wall clock filled the deafening silence.

I blinked.

I had two choices.

A simple “Yes, Ma’am.”

Or… Pre-debut Han Jisung.

“Rap better.”

“Do your own fucking work for once! Stop giving me all your work at the last minute! The least you could do is come fucking help me with it. But won’t, because you fucking can’t. You are heavily under-fucking-qualified for this job. You’re just here because your rich fuck daddy bought you this job!” I would yell.

Maybe I would mess up her immaculate desk— where each item was in its place, because she had done next to nothing since she came in today.

Perhaps throw her laptop, which had practically zero work files, in the trash.

I opened my mouth, rage clogging my throat, ready to let out months of anger on that motherfuc-

“She’ll do it.” Minji said, nodding her head as if convincing herself, “And I’ll help her with it. Some extra hands wouldn’t hurt.”

I love Minji. We have been friends ever since we were preschoolers. We were inseparable. We were always there for each other. We loved each other.

But at that moment I hated her more than I hated Seo Yoon. That cun-

“Fantastic!” Seo Yoon said, bringing her hands together and breaking my mental rant, “You already have the necessary files, don’t you Nora?”

Of course I had the damn files. I freaking made them— with no help from her.

I opened my mouth back up to argue, but one look from Minji, the shut-up-or-you’re-going-to-be-fired look, had me biting my words back and giving Seo Yoon a curt nod.

“Well, what are you waiting for? Get out of my office and get started.” Seo Yoon opened her laptop back up.

Jaw clenched, I gathered my things and walked out of Seo Yoon’s office.

“She’s not worth it, you know.” Minji said as Seo Yoon’s office door closed behind us.

“She always does this.” I complained, walking to my office.

Tomorrow was the shooting for SKZCODE “Bedtime Bingo Hell” ep.55 and 56.

Ha Jun, our Manager, had assigned the script writing and ordering props for the shoot to me. Seo Yoon’s only responsibility was to go to Homeplus and simply get all the pre-order items. Along with preparing some games for the episode.

Conveniently for her, she had forgotten to do this simple task all week. And today she had to attend a “super important” gala with her father, “which simply couldn’t be missed” because “it was going to revolutionize K-pop”— her words not mine. Because rich investors drink champagne at a “charity” event usually did that.

Now I had to go to Homeplus at the final hour— alone, and get the props or tomorrow’s shoot would be cancelled.

I opened the list of all the things we needed for tomorrow’s shoot and let out a small frustrated groan.

Why the hell did we need so much for a glorified sleepover?

“This is too much. Why can’t she just start picking up some slack? Or hire someone else to do the job. You know — like me. Who already does most of it anyway.”

“It’s not like they can fire her.” Minji pointed out.

“Yeah, yeah, I know. She’s the shareholder’s daughter and all.” I rolled my eyes.

Seo Yoon was the daughter of one of the owners of the JYP company, Seo San. He held a large share of the company and he was the main reason why Seo Yoon was even hired as the assistant manager in the first place.

“Ah yes,” Minji said, with a familiar twinkle in her eye, “But the plot thickens, Nora.”

If anything ever went down at the company, Minji was one of the first ones to know. She worked as the Head in the Wardrobe and Make—up department and the girls there knew more about the company than JYP himself did.

From affairs to money laundering — they knew all the secrets that could end up ruining people’s lives.

“Ha Jun’s been seeing Seo San.”

“Ha Jun?” I echoed back in surprise, “Isn’t she younger than Seo Yoon?”

“By a whole year.” Minji said as if the whole drama amused her, “I didn’t believe it when Ryujin told it to me yesterday. But today I saw them with my own eyes. Ha Jun was in Seo San’s BMW— you know the black one with the car at the back from hitting JYP’s car last summer.”

Wow.

If I had any chance of getting Seo Yoon’s job before, I had lost all hope with that piece of information.

With the manager and the shareholder offering the nepo baby protection — it was practically impossible to get a promotion.

Obsidian: I liked the story. It was great in its own way. I'm the type that likes the night clubs, the cities, the dark allies. It might be a little on the light side for me (the other side would be the dark side) but overall, its a good read. Also, a little short, but as a writer who tends to rush things mys...
